sfo utilizes private contractors & it’s an absolute breeze relative to every single other airport right now. it’s not susceptible to govt shutdowns or these ridiculous messes that happen so frequently now that impact normal ppl’s everyday lives. i mean the global entry guy even said welcome back mr signull with a huge smile on his face. so why aren’t we privatizing tsa with some good guidelines?

has language ever looksmaxxed this hard.. ? i literally have to check urban dictionary like 10x a day cuz i’m fully frame mogged by half the vocab rn.. like “ascension”, “skibidi syntax”, or “peak adam”.. whole micro dialects are spinning up overnight & decaying even faster, total jestergooning behavior from the culture.

has language ever evolved this fast.. ? i literally have to check urban dictionary like at least 10 times a day cuz i am totally lost at what some of these words actually mean.. like “ascension”, “slaymaxxing”, or “peak adam”, i mean entire micro dialects are spinning up overnight & maybe also decaying faster than ever. feels like every niche is minting its own vocabulary in real time. it’ll be interesting when llm’s actually start making words up & ppl just go with it. although maybe i’m just getting old. now get off my lawn.

The Afroman Trial. -Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons. -Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up. -No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman. -Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras. -Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives. -During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat. -The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation. -Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit. -Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them. -One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife. -As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE. -The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman. This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

@DCinvestor I like machine learning and artificial intwlligence. But the average person is not a software engineer. The main thing its done for non-ai perspectives include advanced warfare, excessive bill increases, less entry level jobs, and environmental damage (war).

where big tech is missing the mark is they are not sufficiently showing how AI is a tool which humans can use to enhance their work, experiences, and lives and they’re increasingly showing it as a tool companies can use to replace humans not sure it can be rectified though tbh

@signulll It’s because LLMs present themselves like a human friend on the surface, while simultaneously concealing the complex and potentially invasive systems operating behind the black background.

@HeilmanJoseph @jemelehill ur debsting something I didn’t say. I’m talking about labor supply dynamics. Flooding the labor market lowers wage leverage. That’s standard economics.

@DevMoore @jemelehill Really? So give up then and do nothing, and rely on the government to provide for your needs. These are billionaires. Do you think they give a shit if an electrician charges them 200 an hour instead of 100 an hour?

Notice how really rich people keep encouraging people to go into trades, but none of them would want that for their own children. There’s nothing wrong with trades, but what they’re really trying to do is create a nation of service workers and laborers. People who remain in service to them. They want a much wider wealth gap than there is now. That’s why suddenly they are so anti-college and are trying to break the university system.

@HeilmanJoseph @jemelehill They’re trying to increase blue-collar labor, so that the price of physical labor won’t be high anymore, allowing them to make even more money

@jemelehill Nope. They’re trying to steer people away from going tens of thousands of dollars in debt for a marketing degree because they’ve been convinced that all you have to do is get a degree and you’ll be set up for life.

@dread_numen @signulll lmao. I don’t know his business tbf, but there are many tech companies that do indeed hire young so they can overwork, receive less pushback, and more easily dispose of workers if needed. Facts

we prefer to hire new grads a ton cuz in this era experience is getting devalued faster than potential. a 40yr old dev with 15yrs of patterns baked in pre llm is in some ways harder to onboard into an ai native workflow than someone with no habits to unlearn. this is real, underrated, & often counter intuitive. this may not apply to every type of gig but as long as ppl are needed, there are def places for new grads with high agency.

these are just glorified email newsletters. the real moat is: small brands with direct connect to their fans.
Jonas@jonaswillett1

IRL is going to crush AI over the next 5 years. In the last 3 months, $750M+ in capital was deployed on "anti-AI" bets. Big players are doubling down on their investments in events, experiences and in-person connection. Here's what I'm seeing: @cornerapp, a social map app for Gen Z, has grown to 60K+ users helping people curate and share places to meet IRL—"Google Maps but social." Everyone ik in NYC loves them. @partiful, @poshvip_, and @LumaHQ have raised a combined $60M and are exploding. Partiful hit 500K+ MAU, Posh hit 6 million registered users, and Luma has over 2 million users signing up for events. Harvard alum @aidaxbaradari just launched @be_inaudible, the first smart device to stop unwanted audio recordings and keep IRL conversations private. @mcuban made a massive bet, investing in Burwoodland, a NYC-based live-events company behind IRL experiences in the US, Canada, and Europe. Former COO and CPO of Hinge officially launched Rodeo to help people spend more time IRL with friends. @a16z keeps doubling down on IRL via investments and a16z Build — a dinner series and community for founders / operators figuring out their next move. @nazzari, @katiekirsch, @eriktorenberg. Billion-dollar companies are paying $$$ for community and events leads: - @AnthropicAI: Events Lead - $320k - @Substack: Events Lead - $190k - @VaynerMedia: Head of Experiential - $250k - @Spotify: Global Experiential & Content - $175k - @BiltRewards: Director of Events & Experiences - $150k Investors are pouring billions of dollars into AI. But smart money is quietly deploying millions into IRL at the same time. a16z backs both OpenAI and Partiful. ElevenLabs and Substack. The nuance is - it's not AI vs. IRL. It's that the more we live online, the more premium real-life connection becomes. They're not competing investments. They're a hedge on each other.
