Five years after the 2020 Creek Fire devastated our Sierra communities - destroying homes, livelihoods, and nearly 380,000 acres - the official cause remains "undetermined," with lightning listed as probable (I lived 3 miles from ignition - ZERO lightening in the area that day).
Yet persistent questions linger, backed by eyewitness accounts, call logs, and on-the-ground findings: Was the ignition tied to an unattended activity near Camp Sierra involving a law enforcement family member? Or an illegal cartel grow operation in remote Big Creek Canyon?
USFS led the investigation, but delays in response, restricted records, and excluded leads have fueled legitimate concerns of incomplete disclosure. Communities deserve facts, not ambiguity.
To current and former employees of USFS, CalFire, FCSO, or any California agency with knowledge of the 2020 Creek Fire origin or early response:
Your oath is to the people and the truth. If you have information that could bring clarity and justice to affected families, step forward anonymously if needed. Whistleblower protections exist for a reason.
Silence protects institutions. Truth protects lives and prevents future tragedies.
We seek accountability, not scapegoats. The fight for transparency continues.
Who has the courage to ensure justice isn't buried?
