All I ask is for everyone to stop saying “decimated” when they mean “thoroughly destroyed.” Please, look it up.

This is what forgetting Christianity does to a civilization: “The modern world imagines that it has outgrown religion. It has done nothing of the kind. It has merely forgotten it. And because it has forgotten it, it no longer understands itself. Men do not realize that the whole framework of their moral judgments, their political habits, and even their intellectual methods were formed within a Christian society and cannot exist long outside it. When that framework breaks, they will not find themselves enlightened, but bewildered; not free, but enslaved; not rational, but confused.” — Hilaire Belloc, Europe and the Faith

One of the strongest arguments for teaching classic literature is simply this: If students are never asked to inhabit minds from other times and cultures, they will confuse their own narrow historical moment with universal truth. The canon is an antidote to chronological snobbery.

CHAOS IN THE CAPITOL: Abortion activists disrupted the Missouri Senate to try and stop Republicans from passing a pro-life bill. The bill would put a question on the ballot and ask voters to decide if they want to ban abortion with certain exceptions. It passed 21-11.

On lousy Catholic hymns -- this bears repeating: Day of wrath, O day of mourning! Earth to ashes now returning! GATHER, by the millions, burning! Cleansed at last by cataclysm Butchered rhyme and battered rhythm, Neopagan narcissism! On that day, Lord, when thou comest, And our dreadful hymnals thumbest, Smite the ugliest and dumbest. Smite them, Lord, yet in thy pity Take their songsters to thy city: Even Haugen, Haas, and Schutte. Spare them on the stern condition That they feel a true contrition For the Worship 3 edition. Doom them not to loss and ruin While the darker storm is brewing! THEY knew not what they were doing. On that day when Palestrina Dare not touch a celestina, What will Sister Ballerina? With thine eyes that pierce like lances, Put to rest her heathen dances And her flirting with Saint Francis. Purge us of the prim and prissy, Ditties fit for Meg or Missy, Not for Francis, but a sissy. Cantors who thought nothing grander Than a sheaf of propaganda Writ like office memoranda, Raise them to thy room to bide in Where their hearts and ears may widen To the strains of Bach and Haydn. Let their hearts within them falter, Hearing, as they near thine altar, Seraphs sing the Scottish Psalter. Seize those devils set to pen a Hymnal neutered of its men -- ah, Fling ’em back to black Gehenna! Fling them ONE and ALL to mangle THEIR pronominals, and wrangle Lest a participle dangle! Who held manhood in derision, Preaching double circumcision, Suffer now their own revision. Though the songs of Hell are naughty, None by Handel or Scarlatti, At the least they’ll have castrati. Lord Almighty, sling the raucous Slogans of a silly caucus Down to Sheol, or Secaucus! Save their singers, though: restore ’em To a silent sweet decorum, Ante cantum angelorum. Various are the throngs of heaven: Some were lump, and some were leaven, Some as lame as six and seven. When the demons hear thy curses, And our fog at last disperses, Heal the hobbled -- not their verses. Hush me, too, Lord, when I grumble: In thy mercy make me humble, Lest On Turkey's Wings I tumble. Though Haugen sing “Hosea” evermore, Save me I pray -- but keep me near the door. Amen.

How you view the Enlightenment is a pretty good litmus test for politics. Do you view it with respect, or disgust?

🚨JUDGE OVERRULES TRUMP, FORCES GOVERNMENT TO RESTORE WOKE WEBPAGES—ELON: "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" A rogue DC judge just forced the CDC, FDA, and HHS to restore webpages that Trump rightfully deleted, pages promoting gender ideology and sex change procedures. Elon blasts the absurd ruling: “Judges as website editors!? Enough is enough.” Sen. Mike Lee: “These judges are waging an unprecedented assault on legitimate presidential authority, all the way down to dictating what webpages the government has. This is absurd.” Source: X, CBS, @BasedMikeLee

Truly absurd. Judges as website editors!? We should at least ATTEMPT to fire this junky jurist. The notion of having a judge job for life, no matter how bad the judgments, is ridiculous! Enough is enough.

@libsoftiktok What good is telling someone they can't do something if you have no power to stop or punish them? That EP sounds more a suggestion, or a polite request.

My DW found out yesterday that the composer of the song "A Perfect Day" sold 8 million copies of SHEET MUSIC, worldwide, in the first year. When's a decent neurologist going to tell us what we know already, how many are the ways in which MAKING MUSIC helps make people intelligent? My daughter tells me that there's one part of the body other than the brain that contains something like brain cells: the fingertips. Keep it in mind the next time somebody says that writing with the hands is a thing of the past; might as well say the same of playing the piano, or drawing, or scribbling out a solution to a problem in geometry...

If your denomination is named after a person… that’s a red flag 🚩 If your pastor is a millionaire… 🚩 If your church ordains women… 🚩 If your church has a basket of ear plugs at the entrance… 🚩 If your church displays Pride flags… 🚩 If your church will “re-baptize” you as often as you’d like… 🚩 If your church affirms sin, including divorce, birth control and abortion… 🚩 If your church has laser lights, fog machines and a rock band… 🚩 If your church only offers communion once a month (or less frequently)… 🚩 If your church doesn’t encourage you to confess your sins… 🚩 If your church sees no value in the practices and beliefs of the Church Fathers… 🚩 What else would you add?

After listening to: - Every single person in every single bible study give their interpretation of a scripture passage - Every pastor I've ever heard preach come up with a new twist on something from the Bible - Every church I've ever belonged to change it's position on some point of doctrine, large or small - Friends tell me they're church shopping because the one they're currently at 'just isn't right for me anymore' - People at funerals tell me that their loved one is now playing golf or riding their motorcycle or whatever After all that, I've come to this conclusion: every Protestant is actually their own church. Approx. 160 million in the U.S., according to GROK. That's how many Protestant churches we have here. Tired of carrying that weight. Tired of being my own church.
