18yr old today: £12.74 an hour on a zero hour agency contract No guarantee of work Oh and need £2k to buy a car to get to work, £1.70 a litre and then £4-5k to insure it for a year Not hard to see why so many of today's youth are out of work.

Now that I’ve reached a certain age, I’ve started getting some unsolicited ‘just die already!!’ junk mail. Today’s is from one of those cart-off-and-cremate companies, and it included a sheet of robin stickers which is both lovely and ghastly at the same time.

New ferry news. This photo captures the moment where Western Ferries’ Technical Director Graeme Fletcher and Cammell Laird’s Project Manager Jon O’Brien placed a commemorative coin into the wooden keel block for the first unit of Sound of Sleat. A similar coin was placed in Sound of Scalpay’s keel block in December. These coins will remain at the heart of the vessels throughout their lives.

@1Percenterer Loved mine E39 528i Touring. Thirsty on short to work journeys at 16mpg but glorious. Water pump a weak point (plastic) mine went at 116k miles but no damage done.

Powered by the M52 2.8-litre straight-six, about 190 hp and one of BMW’s smoother engines from the late 90s, especially in single VANOS form.
The 540i usually gets all the attention and later the 530i replaced this model, but the 528i sits right in the middle of the lineup.
It’s quick enough for daily driving and still looks great, especially the pre-facelift design, which has a slightly different character from the later cars.
One of the more balanced E39 variants.

@ChargePlaceScot Doesn’t help much now when they are all unavailable though does it? Lochgilphead and Inveraray out. They are flaky old units anyway so let’s hope for replacements in time for tourist trade thus summer

So don't tend to bend valves but snap rockers and push the cam lobes off (only press fitted on)
So looks like a snapped serpentine belt ends up about £1300 oh joy ☠️
