@CBHessick Literally bullshit. The system only works when the Court can rely on the officers before it. that’s why they call us….checks notes….officers of the court.

The prosecutor’s failure to check AI-generated citations is inexcusable. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that the JUDGE then adopted the prosecutor’s citations without conducting its own investigation. That’s a major judicial failure.

Update: Today, the Georgia Supreme Court issued an order directing counsel for the state to file a sworn affidavit providing a “complete explanation” for the filings that included non-existent cases and other errors.

Um, no. That’s not the judge’s responsibility and most state courts don’t have the resources to allow judges to verify case cites submitted by the parties. The lawyers have a fundamental duty of candor to the court. The court isn’t there to babysit the lawyers. Your position is utterly absurd.

@CBHessick A judge should be able to rely absolutely on a lawyer's representations. The judge did nothing wrong. The lawyer should be disbarred.

@politicalmath The Supreme Court justice in this video issued an order on Friday requiring this 'attorney' to support her citations with an affidavit and complete explanations. He is not amused and he is not finished.

The fact that the state attorney did this (and not some rando sleazeball defense attorney) is infuriating That they did this in order to deny a new trial to a woman who was (it seems) the victim of a vindictive prosecutor and a corrupt court is rage-inducing

An absolutely excruciating moment at the Georgia Supreme Court this week. Justice Peterson pressed state attorney Deborah Leslie over her citations to cases that apparently don’t exist.

DC Code forbids tinted windows that block more than 30% of the light. Officer sees tinted window, stops the car to investigate. DC Ct of Appeals: There was no reasonable suspicion to believe window was sufficiently tinted to stop the car. dccourts.gov/sites/default/… #N

The district court in Utah has refused to appoint the interim U.S. Attorney to the post even though she’s obviously qualified and her confirmation by the Senate is imminent. It’s an outrageous combination of petty and stupid. 1/3

My 93 year old lds grandmother... lifelong resident of Utah...was a stay at home mom. Never had to work. Was married to a man who never attended college and was able to purchase a home in his early 20s, 2 cars, a boat, and have 5 kids. We in Utah have had our inheritance stolen.

Transactional lawyers be like: 'Retire at 65? Nah, I'm just getting to the good part.' Less courtroom yelling, more champagne-closing deals. Clients glued to their rainmaker like barnacles. Wisdom = $$$. Peak pay in your 70s. Why quit when you're basically a walking ATM with better stories? Litigation folks: we envy your naps.

@SinaiLawFirm The courts need an increased budget. Most counties civil judges/departments are understaffed. If AI is going to increase the volume of cases that attorneys can handle, pro pers can file, motions that can be filed, etc, the judicial council should be preparing now.

Lawyers used to make a ton of money out of entity formation and LLCs. It was easy work but you still needed a lawyer. Then LegalZoom put all of them out of business. AI is going to do the same to a the lawyers who make money from 'low learning curve' work: Lease drafting and redlining LOIs Contract review Demand letters Basic consultation Compliance Settlement agreements Waivers Just like there are still lawyers who charge a lot for LLC formation (and are worth it!), to do it right, you will probably still need a lawyer. But for 99% of people, the easy work will be completely replaced by AI. Those lawyers doing low impact work are cooked.

American families paid the price for illegal tariffs at the grocery store, in higher prices for baby formula, construction materials, and everyday goods. Now we’re hearing that businesses may spend years fighting in court just to get that money back. That’s why I introduced the RELIEF Act, which requires the government to automatically refund tariffs that were collected illegally. No red tape. No years of litigation. When the government takes money it wasn’t authorized to collect, it has to return it. cnn.com/2026/02/24/eco…

No tax on overtime should mean all workers, not just some. Right now too many essential workers are being left out of the proposal. That’s why I raised this directly with IRS Commissioner Frank Bisignano and why I introduced the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act. If we’re going to provide tax relief on overtime, then it should apply to every worker who puts in extra hours to support their family. He said he’s willing to work with us on it, and I’ll be holding him to that. Now it’s time to get this bill across the finish line for working people.

Opinion: Las Vegas was a Boomer and Gen X thing. Millennials and younger generations really don't care about Las Vegas. There are too many other destinations they would rather go to. As Boomers (1946-1964) begin dying, so will Las Vegas visitor numbers.

A disastrous start to 2026 - Strip gaming revenue fell 11% in January to $747.6M Every market in Southern Nevada - except North Las Vegas and Mesquite - fell in the month. Nevada overall was down than 6.5%. A good month from Northern Nevada softened the dip. @TheNVIndy @NevadaGCB
