I like hearing different opinions and views people have to share. It expands your scope of reason as you get to understand how different people think and what guides them to hold that view.

One example in Kalenjin; the version of raising a white flag in war was raising grass (kipkandulit). If the enemy does that, they've surrendered, you can't kill them. Raising grass can also be used to seek forgiveness locally.

@rerei_nathan Is that like Ethics in War?

@Bygones_24 I read that the Turkana came later after the Borana and found them herding these strange necked beasts so I kinda wondered where originally did the Turkana come from if they never had camels in the north?

By Kipsigis old raiding ideology, the current economic activity of mulot and sharp boys is not a bad thing😂, maybe what need to be learned from the old way though is how you leave something small for the victim. Like how they used to leave at least a cow for the victim raided

@LLoiteri81924 Back to Nilotes - Western Nilotes we know kept cows for prestige and for dowry (dinka is expected to pay upto 300 cows for girl). Eastern Nilotes have KULE - iteso/maasai/turkana So it is unlikely Kalenjin retained CAk/Chak from its old nilotic days. That is rigours history

Did you know? Wosek in Kalenjin = milk mixed with charcoal/ash for preservation. The same root appears in Oromo (wosee/wosa) — milk treated with ash or smoke. Definitely Mursik/Wosek might have Oromo/Borana roots.
Chemosi@pkarnet

@Bygones_24 @LLoiteri81924 Kipsigis in menjo sing.."Anyiny chechon bo Borana"... Meaning we learnt a think or two about milk from Borana community

Kenyans like to think of themselves as clever, civilized and upright citizens. We really like to view ourselves as straightforward, mostly honest and cultured but are we really all that?

Jugaad (Indian) means finessing a system, tricking or beating it using legal and sometimes illegal so long as it's not openly noted and one could get away with it. Its Kenyan equivalent is "ujanjez" something here we like to call "sharpness" and "streetwise".

"So it's basically..." then goes on to hurriedly go over points without actually explaining. That's how people who pretend to be knowledgeable about a niche subject actually "teach" especially those in content creation. 🤦

The great Jewish physician and scholar Maimonides: "With regard to a gentile idolater with whom we are not at war... we should not try to cause their deaths. It is, however, forbidden to save their lives if their lives are threatened. For example, if such a person fell into the sea, one should not rescue him. Leviticus 19:16 states: 'Do not stand idly by while your brother's blood is at stake.' This does not apply with regard to such individuals, because they are not 'your brothers.'" You're one of the people who are going to be completely appalled when Iranian Civil Society is finally free to tell you what the IRGC has been doing to Iranians. Moi era numbers will pale in comparison.
I@W_Asherah

Looking at Iran fighting back, one has to wonder if they're keeping them in that state to prevent whatever they would become from ever seeing the light of day. Them Persians would flourish. Hope to see a world where they/we get to exist free of colonization.
