Britain has been a Christian nation for over 1,400 years. Through wars, plagues, and countless kings, Easter has always been celebrated. Yet now, Cadbury won’t even use the word ‘Easter’ on their eggs. When did celebrating British traditions become controversial?

In the US (most relevant context), past 5 years (2021-Mar 2026): Students killed in shootings at Christian schools: 6 total - Covenant Christian (Nashville, 2023): 3 students - Abundant Life Christian (WI, 2024): 1 student - Annunciation Catholic (MN, 2025): 2 students At Jewish, Muslim, or other non-Christian religious schools: 0 reported student deaths from shootings. Most school shootings (~300+ incidents, dozens of deaths yearly) occur at public/secular schools; victim religion isn't systematically tracked.
