In prior times when oil was around $100 a barrel, gas prices were about $3.50 per gallon. We are being gouged by retailers big time!

@michster65 @mitchellvii No, they weren’t the same in June. The peak number is when oil surged to $126 a barrel. This whole comment shows how little you understand about the global oil market, or economics in general. The US exports that oil so we can buy oil that our refineries can easily refine.

@LenInMaine @mitchellvii $4.929 in June 2022 by this chart with oil prices being about the same. Big oil is gouging. Only 7% of oil from the straight is imported into the US. While the US currently exports 12 million barrels a day. Which is roughly 21% of the global market.

@michster65 @CoalitionGrill @mitchellvii Are you thick? Billie’s original comment said “when oil was around $100”. I gave you a direct example of “when oil was around $100”, and you don’t like it. Cry more. It won’t change the facts. All this simping for a NYC Liberal Democrat LARPing as a Republican sure gets old.

@michster65 @mitchellvii I gave you a link that has the exact figures. Here’s a month by month breakdown. In April of 2022 oil was at $100-$102 a barrel. The hard data chart:

@grok @conservewild777 @mitchellvii @grok, can you give an educated guess why @mitchellvil would leave out those facts? Is there an honest reason why he would be less than truthful about this topic? Am I crazy to assume he’s a political talking head just trying to make money from the body politic?

In late April 2022, WTI crude oil averaged ~$102/barrel (spot prices ~$95–105 range after the March peak). U.S. national average regular gas price was $4.11/gallon for the month, reaching ~$4.14 by April 28. Similar to current levels with oil near/above $100. Market-driven by crude costs, not gouging.

Yes, historically accurate. In periods like 2011-2014, when crude averaged near $100/barrel, US regular gas was typically ~$3.50-$3.70/gallon. Now in April 2026, gas hit ~$4.10 amid recent oil benchmark spikes above $100 from geopolitical tensions (Middle East conflicts). Retailer margins remain slim (~10-20¢/gallon). Higher prices reflect crude/refining costs, taxes, regs, and distribution—not retailer gouging. Market-driven.

@Arkypatriot While I agree with Voter Id, are you really going to pretend that the ID request is for steaks, and not Alcohol?

Why does Walmart make me show my government ID just to grab some pork chops and broccoli from curbside pickup… but I can vote for the next President of the United States with nothing but a smile and a “trust me, bro”? Guess the broccoli has higher security standards than the nuclear codes!

Clearly retailers are gouging at this point. Oil at roughly $100 a barrel does NOT justify these prices.

Want to see proof of media manipulation? Example: Gas prices are too high Reality: The average American driver has spent just $99 more for gas since the Iran operation began. Yup...just $45-$50 more per month. If $100 is causing the "average American" nightsweats...you have a much bigger problem!

@Vintage64TX @Phi1lySpecial @misfitpatriot_ @Ringo1256 Nah. He’s just trying to make a paycheck by leeching off of the body politic. Forget what you see with your eyes. Just focus on the ‘us vs them’, so you’ll stay angry and engage. Outside of X, no one even knows who these grifters are.

It’s absolutely fucking wild how many of you entitled bitches are so quick to blame Trump and a 60 day operation for how awful it is to live in America after going through 4 years of Biden. We literally don’t deserve him. Oh, your gas prices are temporarily a little higher? Get the fuck over it you crybaby bitches. Fuckin two months. You absolute babies need to shut the fuck up for real.

@misfitpatriot_ It’s absolutely fucking wild that some of you want everyone to forget that Trump gleefully helped spend TRILLIONS in 2020, which created massive inflation in 21-22’. Correct. We don’t deserve the NYC liberal Trump 2.0 we’ve got now.

@ManySuchCases21 @nikkharris The dude drove a MY for years, and called it Tesla’s best all around car. He consistently calls MS the most important car of the last 30 years. He just gives honest takes, and some don’t like it.

@Sassafrass_84 Are we going to leave out the part where TRILLIONS of dollars were spent on 2020? Trying to make an argument that Pres Trump is somehow more fiscally responsable than Biden is just silly.

Under Biden inflation was 9%, under Trump It’s 2.1%. I’m no mathematician, but that seems lower. Maybe it’s just me. 🤷‍♀️

@mitchellvii You should passing out cake with a post like this. To a family on the edge, an extra $200 a month in gas is a killer. But why would a leech on the political system actually give a fuck about Main St., America?

Ok panicans, Gas prices will be down below $2.50 a gallon before the midterms excluding blue states with their high gasoline taxes. As a matter of fact, gas prices won't even be a issue by the time November 3rd rolls around.
