If you think these are the same crimes punishable under the same civil crime then I can't help you. No one has claimed Platner assaulted them.

@Loderoni @beatmastermatt @ChrisCillizza But under that same law that the civil suit against Trump used, Platner would be guilty of rape, assault, whatever, in a civil suit. That is if the same rules about evidence and the same biased judge were involved. Because the evidence against Platner is way stronger.

I don't know if Graham Platner's candidacy survives these latest allegations in the New York Times. It may well do so. But I do find it the height of hypocrisy that the same Democrats who said that we need to believe all women are rushing to discredit the story because it quotes a GOP operative who dated Platner in the 2010s. I mean, how do they square that?

There's not a lower bar, at least on the left side of the aisle, as we've been running incredibly strong candidates. While the right keeps appointing podcast hosts and thugs

@mtracey It was a death symbol for the Prussian military 100 years before the Nazis. If you knew anything about the military and men that fight in elite units, there are a lot of these symbols floating around. It has nothing to do with fucking Nazis.

Wait, this is the supposed "Nazi tattoo"? I don't buy for a second that 99% of people seeing this would have the slighest idea it has anything to do with Nazis or Hitler. They'd just assume it's a generic "skull and crossbones" that a certain type of guy would think looks cool

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

According to this new Supreme Court ruling, total blue states like Colorado can draw an 8-0 blue map, Illinois a 17-0 blue map, and California a 52-0 blue map. Time to respond accordingly to this new conservative threat and give Republicans exactly what they asked for.

Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America. People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.  It is time for ABC to take a stand.  How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.
