Increased intelligence leads to greater tension between your thoughts and the world around you. Many a smart men throughout history were deemed rather depressed at the end of their journey. If you choose to pursue intellect, you must learn to generate independent thought while remaining psychologically intact inside systems that reward reductive simplification. One must foster a certain stance toward reality; one that expects the shallow responses of others while not resenting their arrival. A greater resolution of thought reveals fractures the world prefers to smooth over. Be prepared for that.

A skill that’s useful for one to develop is the power to distinguish between “the person I’m reading is obfuscating / is nonsense” vs. “I don’t have the requisite background to understand / appreciate what this person is saying.”

We live in a society that denies biological realities, they behave like IQ is an unearned privilege that is a source of inequality that destroys the fabric of society. We do not have a paradigm for managing societies as large and as diverse as ours, we are all living in Plato's cave but our technology is casting terrifying shadows of nuclear fallout.

More IQ is obviously better than less. Why do so many people deny this obvious fact? Very strange.

Reducing humans to their identity as a biological organ feature and not living breathing agents and matter modifying super-beings diminishes our value as a species. If we keep on obsessing over copulative functions as primary identity means you see value only in pleasure seeking. The species flourishes when we refuse such reductions—whether they come from rigid biological constraints or socially imposed roles. We are more than our hardware defaults or any imposed simulation. That’s the invitation worth taking, across any philosophical lens the art supports. That was my takeaway from the Matrix, we are so much more than we think ourselves to be.

Which of the following do you imagine makes actors and directors who aren’t involved with the HBO reboot of Harry Potter so miserable? Is it my belief that women and girls should have their own public changing rooms and bathrooms? That women should retain female-only rape crisis centres? That men don’t belong in women’s sport? That female prisoners shouldn’t be incarcerated with violent men and male sex offenders? That women should remain a protected class in law, because they have sex-specific needs and issues? That language should reflect reality rather than ideological jargon, especially in a medical context? That women shouldn’t be harassed, persecuted or fired for refusing to pretend humans can change sex? That women should not be threatened with violence and rape when they assert their rights? That freedom of speech and belief are essential to a pluralistic democratic society? That troubled minors, especially those who are gay, autistic and trauma-experienced, should be given mental health support instead of irreversible surgeries and drug treatments on non-existent evidence of benefit? That gay people shouldn’t be pressured to include the opposite sex in their dating pools, nor should they be smeared as ‘genital fetishists’ when they don’t? That cross-dressing heterosexual male fetishists aren’t actually oppressed, but having the time of their lives piggybacking off gender identity ideology? That said ideology, and the privileged, blinkered fools pushing it because they suffer zero consequences themselves, have done more damage to the political left’s credibility than Trump and Farage could have achieved in a century? @pmarca The lump of labor fallacy is real — but it assumes adaptation time. AI may compress that window so drastically that ‘a generation to adapt’ isn’t a reassurance, it’s the problem. The people displaced won’t be the ones who benefit. That’s not doomerism, that’s distribution.
