Tesla is suing the state of North Dakota because the state won't allow the company to open any showrooms/service centers and sell direct to consumers. North Dakota law prohibits vehicle manufacturers from owning car dealerships and requires them to sell their products to franchised dealerships for resale to consumers. “Tesla just wants to be able to sell its vehicles in North Dakota, and not force customers who would wish to purchase a Tesla vehicle to have to drive to Minnesota or another state to do it,” said Ari Holtzblatt, one of Tesla’s attorneys in the case. Tesla is asking the court to declare the company does not fall within the definition of manufacturer contained in state law. The term is defined as a person who assembles or imports a motor vehicle and sells it to dealers in the state for resale. It's wild that in 2026, we still have U.S. states that won't allow direct vehicle sales to consumers. It hurts consumers and reduces choice.

@truthandtesla When people say "union" I hear "artificial monopoly of labor supply." They are gangs, organized to blackmail employers out of more money than the labor economy can afford. That said, labor and minimum wage laws are a good thing.

It’s so sad to me how the entire global public is being gaslit about Teslas. It’s clearly a designed slowdown of adoption. Because the adoption that would happen if the truth was revealed, would be catastrophic to the old paradigm: The old supply chain, the unions, the car dealerships, the gas stations that sit atop leaking tanks that will have to be pulled out of the ground someday, the insurance and medical industries that make so much money off the accidents. Oh the agony of that ramification. The list goes on and on about the disruption that would be caused if the TRUTH really got out. So the powers that be, lie, to slow down the adoption they know is inevitable, to give themselves time to pivot out of the already obsolete.

SHE IS BROKE! Is anyone having a worst 2026 than Kristi Noem; Minnesota, hamulating congressional hearings, being fired, losing her free government mansion and jet...and her husband being revealed as a cross dresser. Now- according to federal financial disclosures- she is also broke, in debt for between $2.6M and $3.35M Your Thoughts?

Unpopular opinion: I think combustion-engine motorcycles and mopeds should be phased out in Europe. It’s hard to justify that a single loud motorcycle can disturb hundreds, if not thousands, of people in densely populated cities, especially when quieter electric alternatives already exist. Noise pollution is also proven to have negative health effects. A reasonable first step would be to stop registering new ICE motorcycles, followed by gradually limiting where existing ones can operate, for example banning them in city centers or during nighttime hours. China has proven how quiet cities can be when you remove noise two-wheelers. @battleangelviv

Waymo has been substantially ramping up their testing here in SD over the past year and will launch this summer. Tesla is still stuck on barely 10 units in one city. It's not even fair to compare the two.

True, it's unfair. Waymo can only drive on about 1% of the roads that Tesla can drive itself on, and will never achieve what Tesla has with autonomy because it will never have the data. Tesla is profitable. Waymo is losing money. Teslas are great-looking functional vehicles. Waymos are obscenely ugly with the LiDAR tumors sticking out and winking all over them.

Serious question. For the last 10 years, society told everyone "just learn to code" to escape the middle class. Now Claude writes the code. What exactly is the career advice for an 18-year-old right now?

There’s a huge divide in the Tesla community regarding FSD. Optimists vs. Realists Which one are you? I’m both. 🙋‍♂️ 80% optimist, 20% realist. It’s OK to reach across the aisle to those who are whining, complaining, frustrated, angry. Just please don’t throw up a wall. 🙏 People have good points on both sides.

Elon Musk’s latest tirade against South Africa is a masterclass in billionaire bait-and-switch. He claims Starlink is banned solely because he isn’t Black, a narrative he pushes to his 200-million-plus followers as proof of "viciously racist" laws. In reality, the 30% local equity requirement he decries is a standard part of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) framework that hundreds of other U.S. giants, including Microsoft, have navigated for decades without the "drama". Musk’s "principle" against these rules conveniently ignores that South Africa has already pivoted to accommodate him. As of December 2025, the government introduced Equity Equivalent Investment Programmes (EEIPs), allowing foreign firms like Starlink to skip the equity transfer entirely by investing in local infrastructure and skills. Instead of taking the win, Musk has escalated to hurling expletives at senior diplomats and alleging (without evidence) that he was pressured to "bribe" his way into a license. The irony is thick: while Musk plays the victim of "reverse racism", his refusal to follow local law is the primary hurdle keeping high-speed internet from the very rural South African communities he claims to want to help. It isn't about the color of his skin; it’s about a billionaire who believes his birthplace owes him a waiver for the same rules everyone else follows.

Tesla's Robotaxi is preparing to reach ~50% of US Population Tesla is hiring for the role of Data Collection Supervisor, Self-Driving (and previously for roles called AI Safety Operator) in many cities across the country. These cities cover about 50% of the US population (depending on whether you look at MSAs or CSAs). This table also shows the new cities (in green) where they've begun hiring. This helps to explain where all the Cybercab engineering test vehicles that @JoeTegtmeyer is seeing every day are going! Note: MSA ("Metropolitan Statistical Area") is a city's footprint while CSA ("Combined Statistical Area") reflects a network of metros acting as one regional economic system.

That comparison doesn’t really hold up. Black Economic Empowerment was introduced after Apartheid to address deep, systemic inequalities created by decades of legally enforced exclusion. It’s not a mirror image of apartheid-era laws, which explicitly stripped rights like voting, land ownership, and freedom of movement from the majority population. You can absolutely debate whether current policies are effective, fair, or even counterproductive in some cases but calling it “Apartheid 2.0” ignores the scale and intent of what apartheid actually was. Criticism is valid. But the history matters if we’re going to make serious comparisons.

The South African laws are literally super racist, plain and simple. It’s not complicated: imagine if the law was called “White Empowerment”, instead of “Black Empowerment”! People would have a seizure 😂 South Africa now has more anti-White laws than Apartheid had anti-Black laws. Think about that for a second … The current South African government has objectively implemented Apartheid 2.0. Shame on them.

Ferrari has released a new video of the interior for its first ever all-electric car, called the Ferrari Luce. It was designed with Apple's former head of design, Jony Ive, who recently said "a large touchscreen doesn't work in a car." Car info: • Four-door four-seater • 122 kWh battery • 330 miles of range (European rating methods) • 1,000 horsepower • 0-60mph: Under 2.5s • Four electric motors • OLED screens • Guess cluster screen is made up of several layers. By cutting out holes in the upper layers, Ferrari created displays where the speedometer graphic is below the level of a physical needle, which is itself behind additional drive info and beneath a curved inset lens. • Will have fake gear shifts • Weight: 5,100 lbs

Today is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. My grandfathers died fighting the Nazis and my father fled communism in part to escape antisemitism. We remember the 6 million Jews and many others who were murdered. May their memories be a blessing — and reminder to reject hate.
