@LibRightOpinion Ofc, our kids are just at a challenging age to find people willing to watch them for a couple hours for us to larp as teens. With #3 coming in <3 months that won't change anytime soon.

Marriage seems like a good enough reason to me
Aaliyah Shark アリーヤ@aaliyahvtuber_
Be honest, why don’t you date?
English

@JaviTopStix @btide72 @50shadesofgay_A This is a pet peeve of mine but "weapon of mass destruction" has never exclusively applied to nuclear devices, Iraq did have WMDs that they deployed against the Kurds (nerve agents are included in the definition).
The war was still BS but saying "they had no WMDs" is wrong.
English

@btide72 @50shadesofgay_A @MichaelHauda That's if you believe that nuclear argument. They said the same about Irak.

People will post this as if the US doesn't pay for over 55% of all cancer research while being 25% (or 14% adjusted for PPP) of the world GDP, we spend a vastly disproportionate amount on it relative to everyone else and all they do in return is despise us.

English

@LibRightOpinion I don't really see how we need more of it, you could close half the bases and just reallocate that money if you felt so inclined (I would rather pay down the debt)
English

@MichaelHauda I mean... I support Military Spending. I want more of it. I just want less entitlements and regulation.
English

Leftists reading this and replying based on their assumption that I like military spending and/or supported Trump and not as what it is, simply correcting a lie that poisons their argument.

@mgd1776 @LibRightOpinion Europe is also a big place, the individual countries aren't equally contemptible.
Poland and Italy are much more sympathetic to me than Germany or Scandinavians.
English

@LibRightOpinion @MichaelHauda I can’t commit to the “bad allies” bit as bad as I want to sometimes because Europeans were dying alongside Americans in the sands of Iraq and mountains of Afghanistan. I wish we were one big happy family again
English

@mikitaposts Yeah I just hope the innocent's on both sides suffer as little as possible, the issue isn't going away and nothing we could do would meaningfully help so it's better not to waste the money.
English

@bosolevu55 Most of the cost is eaten by healthcare and would be greatly diminished if it wasn't subsidized, actual cancer patients only spend ~5.5 billion/year of the 200 billion spent nationally. It's hard to tell what it truly costs when the government incentives ballooning prices.
English

@MichaelHauda i hope your right.. but did they make a ton of money treating smallpox, polio, mmr? I'm not an expert but I don't think they did..i think treating cancer is wayyyy more profitable to the industry...
English

@bosolevu55 The fact we've eradicated many viruses in the west with vaccines, can remove some parasites, and cured many diseases would suggest that even if people profit off of treatment that doesn't stop cures and preventative treatments from being developed.
English

@MichaelHauda well i know some will say conspiracy theory but I don't think many of the powers that be in the world that are making bank off peoples sickness will want or allow a cure for cancer to develop...pessimistic and sad yes.. but this world is corrupt and has much evil..
English

@LibRightOpinion I'd rather work closely with our eastern partners since they're generally more reliable, that isn't to say I want Europe to fail I just don't think we're actually needed for security there. We could do a lot more good for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
English

@MichaelHauda Which... I agree with some of that, but I would rather have a reformed NATO that is a credible and existential threat to Russia to make them back off.
English

@LibRightOpinion Yeah that's fair as well, I just feel like whether or not either party sucks as a partner is kind of irrelevant when NATO is obsolete anyway.
Russia can't even take Ukraine, there is no threat of them rolling into Berlin or Paris and we don't need their nuclear launch sites.
English

@MichaelHauda I want the US to close bases in Europe because most of Europe are bad allies.
English

Seeing the @DrewPavlou retweet notif roll in after @memeticsisyphus one, I guess my notifs will be useless tonight glhf butthurt foreigners in the comments.

English

@theholyman74862 I didn't vote for Trump, try again
English

@MichaelHauda You say that but trump has cut all kinds of research spending across the board
English

The US invented the concept of "culture war" apparently, every culture lived together in peace and harmony prior to its inception.

Mathflock.@Mathflock
@MichaelHauda Have you considered that your past and present as a nation of ego, war and conquest coupled with your invention and exportation if culture war might've finally tipped the scales despite your vast international spending?
English

@JaviTopStix Ofc but bad arguments like pretending we don't spend money on cancer research don't help the cause of fighting to lower military spending.
English

@kenobi_gyn @AutoMagArchive 12.7mm is capable of penetrating over 20mm of armor which is how much side armor the German A7V in WW1 had on the sides.
7.92x94 is different from 7.92x57 (8mm mauser) and could penetrate 20-30mm of armor, it's much higher velocity than regular 8mm mauser.
75 penned most tanks.
English

@MichaelHauda @AutoMagArchive But we're still talking 8mm or 12.5mm being suitable for an anti-tank rifle, right?
But somehow a 75mm round from a Sherman would bounce off those same tanks?
Or are we also talking about different tanks?
English

@kenobi_gyn @AutoMagArchive .50 bmg was suitable for fighting tanks in WW1 and was why the M2 Browning was requested
The PzB fired 7.92×94 not .50 bmg, it was a very high velocity smaller projectile that could defeat the armor of many interwar and light WW2 tanks
OP is posting about a PzB altered for .50
English

@AutoMagArchive Can someone explain to me (like I'm a 3rd grader) how a .50 cal rifle can be an "anti-tank" gun when a 75mm round supposedly bounced off German armor?
