@spicyroxxi All the live action movies have actually translated well and look incredible
English

Disney needs to stop terrorizing us with bland washed up remakes of beautiful animations.

DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm
The new trailer for the live-action ‘MOANA’ remake has been released. In theaters on July 10.
English

@spicyroxxi Your echo chamber of "hate" doesn't translate to the real world, these movies make lots and lots of money
English

@dezmondOliver @DiscussingFilm What’s the point of even doing that though? It won’t be as good as the original, let alone better.
They need to just stop doing remakes.
English

@DiscussingFilm See Disney, this is what we want live actions to be. Exact shot for shot but real life. No skin color changes, no new stupid songs about feminism and inequality, just an exact replica remake but real actors, shot for shot, line for line.
English

@DiscussingFilm If this was shown as a fan made AI trailer I wouldn’t even doubt it. Hollywood is in serious trouble.
Moana did not need to be remade, especially not in what looks to be almost a shot for shot remake, just without the visual appeal and charm.

@pirateevery1 @Techjunkie_Aman Huh? This is streaming *your own pc games* to other devices of your own.
English

You don’t need a $2000 gaming setup in every room.
This free tool turns ANY device into a high-end gaming machine.
It’s called Moonlight.
• Stream your entire PC remotely
• Up to 4K HDR + 120 FPS
• Ultra-low latency (feels local)
• Works on phone, TV, Switch, even Raspberry Pi
• Supports controllers, keyboard + mouse
• 7.1 surround sound support
• Zero subscriptions. Fully open source
You can even access your full Windows desktop, not just games.
This is how I play AAA games anywhere.
And most people still don’t know it exists.

@OrlandoLorenzo @SawyerMerritt Tesla could make an absolute killing fabricating chips for others like TSMC and Samsung do, but build them in the USA. It also allows them to create chips that are very specific to their own needs, like Apple do, and we all know how well that is working for Apple.
English

That imaginary constraint he’s devising comes from assuming Tesla will be able to sell hundreds of millions of Optimus units (he even said 1 billion a year) because “who wouldn’t want to own their own DP2 robot.” In my opinion, that’s even more unrealistic than the idea of Tesla selling 20 million cars by 2030 with global EV penetration at around 80%.
This move into chip manufacturing is by far the riskiest of all his moonshot ideas. Even landing rockets and FSD were new technological frontiers, very hard to achieve, but they had time to get it done because there weren’t already other companies working on it. This is the opposite, he would be competing with companies that dominate the market and have decades of experience.
My guess is that he is once again overestimating demand, Optimus won’t sell in the hundreds of millions and this will end up being a waste of billions, as Tesla’s future needs for cars, space data centers, and Optimus will likely be met by Samsung and TSMC.
English

Tesla's Terafab chip manufacturing project launches tomorrow.
Elon previously on advanced chip supply: "Even when we look at the best case output of all our key suppliers, it's not enough. In order to remove the probable constraint in 3-4 years, we'll have to build a very big fab, domestically. I know fabs are hard, but we do a lot of hard things."

@MrFunSocks @JustSlaythe @oliemack Yeah, ethical. Otherwise how do you explain the AI filter dolling up Grace from RE9? There's studies that show how a lot of AI was trained using NSFW material
English

@Bryan_will_soon @JosieMcskimming Good for you, I guess? Doesn’t change what we’re talking about, and is completely irrelevant in fact.
English

@MrFunSocks @JosieMcskimming The solar panels on my roof help a lot.
My bills have been ZERO for ages.

‘Power prices on Aust’s east coast are predicted to fall from Jul because of increased output from wind generation & batteries, and falling electricity contract prices, with potential savings up to $1,320 for some small businesses.’
The future is here. theguardian.com/australia-news…

@Skillful__ @opinali No one called you crazy, and everyone knows it only works in screen space. What people disagree with is that it makes it look worse.
English

@opinali Wow! who woulda thought? And when I kept telling people it was a beauty filter that only calculates what's in screen space they called me crazy. People should've immediately drew red flags when it made buildings in AC shadows turn snow white for no reason.

Daniel got important clarifications from NVIDIA. TLDR: the "DLSS5 skeptical" were right about *everything*.
1⃣ It's a 2D AI Filter. Input is only color buffer & motion vectors. The model doesn't see geometry, lights, PBR properties, normals, anything🧵

@colonelhogans The AEMO has said bills will continue to increase. You’re talking about the DMO which is the fallback *maximum* power prices. Note one is on a DMO plan, so no one will save money.
English

@ChrisHeHim1 This is the *maximum* power price that people can pay, but no one is paying the maximum.
Power *bills* will continue to rise, as predicted by the AEMO.
English

Thanks to wind farms and batteries that One Nation and the LNP want to ban.
Power prices expected to fall by up to 10% from July, saving households hundreds and small businesses thousand+ to Australia’s east coast.

@TonyHWindsor Interest rates are rising because of continued out of control government spending causing inflation, not a war half way around the world that only just started lol
English

trump fan club congratulates him on going to war and then blames the Australian Govt for rising interest rates.
These people can’t join dots.
Toilet Paper Australia@toiletpaperaus1
You literally joined the Government in cheering on the war that caused this ya muppet.
English

@nate_nugent @JosieMcskimming Pretty sure they charge during the lowest price point
English

@_subtxt_ Alex is completely wrong though because he’s saying it’s changing the face geometry. It’s not.
English

First of all… FANTASTIC question from the audience here.
Then Alex Battaglia really voiced my issues with even more technical knowledge than I ever could. 👏 👏 👏
John Linneman@dark1x
I think this video does a good job explaining the viewpoints of the team but I wanted to make sure it was clear that I wasn't feeling up to participate yet thus not in the video. I will share my own thoughts soon but my opinions largely mirror what Alex says in this video!
English

@NikTek Digital foundry’s video has tonnes of moving around with DLSS5 on. You’re making up crap.
English

During DLSS 5 Hands-On Video, YouTube creator Hot Hardware asked Nvidia employees this question about the computational cost of DLSS 5 when you move around in the game and it really caught my eye on how they hesitated on showing any DLSS 5 footage during motion.
Every time that he moved the character, he would turn off DLSS 5 first then move to a different in-game location and then turn it on, or if DLSS 5 was turned on the movement was very slow and controlled.
I know this is still work in progress, but it really begs the question "why wouldn't they show any this?" or "why show DLSS 5 this early?"
I tried freezing some shots when another character is in motion to check if there are any artifacts when DLSS 5 is turned on.
As suspected, I did come across some artifacts with UI elements, character popping out of the UI element and ghosting/artifacts behind the character.
Its still not the best way to judge these small details that you can clearly see if a footage is recorded in-game, but then again its not like Nvidia provided any of them during DLSS 5 marketing campaign.
Whenever this is still going to be present by the time DLSS 5 launches remains to be seen, however as of right now it doesn't look like it will handle fast-paced motion quite well and I don't know how well this "controlled AI-generated" rendering will scale to weaker GPUs in the RTX 50 series

English

@IGN Thanks for reminding me that I haven’t missed anything of value by not visiting ign in well over a decade.
English

"I play games to experience a crafted piece of artistry. DLSS 5 offers none of this, instead replacing the paintbrush held in a human hand with an AI slopping a big vat of oil over the canvas. What are we doing here?" bit.ly/41cj96R

@wadedyer4 @oliemack Starfields lighting is dreadful for the characters.
