If I was organizing a tech team for the startup right now with a budget for three senior devs that's what I would do: * Hire two senior guys who know what they do for sure and arm them with all AI tools they need. * Find three juniors who are bright and promising and forbid them to use AI.

@RhysSullivan It depends on which tokens do I get. I would be happy to get unlimited tokens for video generation, want to experiment with it badly.

if you received unlimited tokens tomorrow - how would it change your workflow? how much would your output increase, what are your bottlenecks?

@DanielSmidstrup I have set a heuristics about it for myself. I am treating it as a junior dev when I review its code. I would briefly look through the code style. I would go line-by-line in critical path (account changes, payments and so on).

@asaio87 When I started an SEO for anything I always had the same problem -- how to break the first rankings and start getting any traffic. Do you have some good advice about it? Or maybe a playbook?

I recommended SEO as the start channel for a saas app. The guy says, SEO costs and he needs some other channel that costs $0 So many indiehackers want to find out marketing channels that cost $0 My guy, if you have $0 in your bank account to invest, then you have other issues. Start doing something to get at least $5-10k for your marketing budget for a realistic launch

For two years, Altman and Amodei warned AI would gut white-collar jobs. Then OpenAI filed to go public. Then Anthropic filed to go public. Then, the same week, both men said they'd been "pretty wrong" — the apocalypse wasn't coming after all. The warning was useful when it sold urgency. It became a liability when it spooked the markets they're about to sell shares into. The prediction didn't change because the data did. It changed because the audience did.

The worst part about being in the middle is that you have to argue with both sides. The best part is that you don't have AI psychosis, but you also don't fall behind.

@nicrypto I think the next cycle will bring us a ton of retail. We were not ready for retail this time -- in terms of technology. It is being built right now -- confidential execution, RWA, etc.

@virtualbacon I think that this is not the AI itself. It is something outside of it. AI labs/big techs will just be a catalyzer of a crisis.

Questionable funding schemes between labs and big techs sound dishonest. However, it should not stop you from using their tools to your advantage. Take your opportunities, hedge your risks. Stay rational. That's the main edge while others are in a delusion.

spacex is raising 75 billion at a 1.7 trillion valuation while sitting on a 41 billion accumulated deficit. and the cherry on top: google owns ~5% of spacex and just agreed to pay it nearly a billion a month for chips. so google funds the IPO it's invested in, by renting compute from the company it owns a piece of. this isn't a market, it's a group of friends passing the same dollar around and calling it growth.

If you look at Anthropic, every single year they get 10 times as much revenue. That means in less than 2 years, they’ll have revenue of $1 trillion at the current rate

it seems to be a bad time to build with AI number of apps is growing exponentially AND almost nobody has distribution / knows how to market it might take years before we figure it out. factory automation took decades for example. AI Coding is also a huge challenge for the App Store for the foreseeable future, they need to rethink a ton of things to filter out spam.

This is absolutely insane. Elon Musk's XAI reportedly spent $40 billion to build their data centers Based on public disclosure of the Anthropic and Google deal, XAI will get paid $26 billion per year to license the compute from these data centers That is a payback period of 18 months for all the data center spend, from just two customers And you still think AI infrastructure capex is a bubble?

It’s actually bullish that it’s too expensive
Aaron Levie@levie

Token costs are becoming one of the hottest topics for any enterprise I talk with right now. It’s very bullish for AI in general because it means these systems are being used at a scale that wasn’t contemplated before. It also gives way to another form of differentiation that will emerge for the applied AI layer, which is model routing. As tokens take on a significant amount of the cost of any given workflow, then companies will inevitably want to ensure that their dollars go into the most efficient use of tokens for the particular job at hand. Frontier intelligence will always be relevant at the high end of tasks, like coding, legal and financial analysis, healthcare, and more. And dollars spent here will only go up over time. But, equally, you can peel off individual tasks to lower cost models (whether they’re from open weights vendors or the major labs) and deliver a more efficient end outcome. To do this effectively, the applied AI layer needs to understand the workflows in their domain better than anyone else, and be able to mix and match models to different jobs. If you’re doing document extraction, you need to know which models perform better or worse for any given document type. If you’re legal analysis, you want to know which models perform various types of tasks best. And so on. This will become one of the bigger differentiation points over time. The companies with the best evals, the best ability to route the workloads, and those that have business models directly aligned to customers financial goals, will be in a great position.
