Not Shadowbanned… Just Outperformed
Good Morning World!!!
Elon’s out here running a poll asking, “Is the algorithm better than it was 3 months ago?” And I’ll be honest… I was shocked to see “No” winning.
Shocked for about 3 seconds. Then I read the comments. Ohhhh. We’re not answering the same question.
Half the platform read that like: “Is my reach better?” “Am I getting more likes?” “Did my posts go viral again?”
Meanwhile Elon’s over here like, “No no… I meant… are you enjoying the feed?”
Two completely different conversations. One is user experience. The other is “why didn’t my post about coffee get 10K likes?”
Personally, I actually like the new algo. My “For You” feed feels like it finally went to therapy.
It’s calmer, less chaotic, and I’m not seeing the same recycled post 47 times with slightly different emojis like some kind of social media Groundhog Day.
I’m seeing people I follow mixed with new accounts that are actually interesting. Not just loud. Not just viral. Just… good.
And yes, before anyone throws tomatoes, my reach dipped too. My engagement isn’t doing backflips every post.
But the people who do see my content feel right. Like I’m not yelling into a stadium anymore, I’m talking to people who actually pulled up a chair. And honestly? I’ll take that trade.
Now from a creator perspective, yeah, more eyeballs would be nice. I’m not above wanting a little sparkle, a little viral moment, a little “look ma, I made it.”
But I also know myself. I could optimize everything. Shorter posts, punchier hooks, hyper-niche content engineered to hit every possible signal.
I could become a perfectly calibrated little content machine… or I could keep writing like a human being who had coffee and thoughts.
And I’m choosing that every time. Because if I have to turn into a content robot to win, I’m not sure that’s actually a win.
So, if you’re sitting there thinking, “The algo is broken,” it might not be broken. It might just be different.
And yeah, that means we have to adjust. But it also means we get to decide how much we adjust. Chase everything or build something real and let it grow a little slower but stronger.
Also, quick reality check: if your entire mood depends on whether your last post popped off, you’re not running the account, the account is running you. And that’s a terrible boss. No PTO, no benefits, and it gaslights you daily.
Oh, and speaking of chaos, it’s Thursday. You know what that means. What the Cluck?! is happening TODAY at 12PM PST. We’re talking “Foxes in the Henhouse,” which feels… suspiciously relevant.
So, grab your coffee, post something you actually care about, and try not to let the algorithm emotionally ruin your morning. It’s just code. You’re still the creator.
May the algorithm always be in your favor.
If this made you laugh, think, or feel slightly less personally attacked by your analytics, go ahead and like, share, and hit that shiny little subscribe button.
It helps more than you think and keeps the coffee flowing.
And if you’re an original creator trying to figure this whole thing out, come join the C.O.X. Creator Community.
We’re all just out here trying not to get outsmarted by robots together. See you at What the Cluck?! 🐔
