@PLumsden @BBCr4today Logical fallacy. Immigrants overall is a false dichotomy. I said benefit dependent migrants. Not importing benefit dependent migrants does not mean we don't have the beneficial ones. Migration is an optimisation problem, not a binary problem. We don't need millions more people.

@ReformSecYork the 'policy' is lack of investment regionally; focus on immigration is YOUR (cynical) policy, which diverts attention away from the long term, systemic issues around how to generate growth in 'left-behind' towns / regions. Same play book as Brexit and blaming the EU for our ills!

Prof Danny Dorling on Radio 4 is correct about the growth of inequality in Britain. This is the result of policy. However his analysis fails when it comes to causes, a key underlying reason is mass inward migration, which put downward pressure on wages and upward pressure on housing costs. People sense this and that is why they are turning to political movements he pejoratively labels as ‘far right’. People want politics centred on their needs not the failed ideology of the Established Parties. We can see that in Britain, America and across Europe too.

@PeteSamuelLegon @BBCr4today That's incorrect Peter. Immigrants overall are net contributors through payment of taxes, and being healthier are less dependent on the health service. Blaming them, like blaming the EU / Brexit just avoids facing the systemic problem - lack of investment regionally

@BBCr4today Shipping in benefit dependent migrants whilst trying to fix inequality, is like try to fill a bucket with a hole. It is by and larger natives having their wealth redistributed for this insane neo-colonialism.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer just told Trump no. “We are not going to be drawn into a wider war. My priority is British interests. I want this war to end.” Britain. America’s closest ally. The Special Relationship. Five Eyes intelligence partner. The country that stood with America on every major military engagement for a century. No. France: no. Germany: no. Norway: no. Canada: never. Japan: officially no. Australia: officially no. UK: no. Switzerland: airspace closed. Spain: reconsidering US air bases. Italy: refusing support. Trump threatened NATO with a “very bad future.” NATO’s founding members are lining up to say no one by one. The Special Relationship just told Trump his war is not Britain’s war. America gets less than 1% of its oil through the Strait. Britain just said that’s not enough reason to send their sons and daughters. $21 billion spent. 14 Americans dead. Oil at $102. Zero allied warships. Taiwan surrounded. Baghdad evacuated. The world has decided. Never stop connecting the dots.

@Gej6855 @Keir_Starmer and you identify as Christian Glenn?? If an ally is making a mistake, surely you correct them rather than collude in their wrong doing? Trump has disparaged UK troops, threatened a NATO ally (G'land), helped Putin - in fact, he no longer feels like our ally

Yet again, you just don’t get it. I don’t know why. You’re the Prime Minister of Americas greatest ally, but you don’t help when asked. Who does that? Hiding behind legality is a poor excuse. Helping an ally is not just legal, it’s the right thing to do. You’ve missed your window and will likely now decline. Sad really.

@JoshuaTCharles @jordanbpeterson @colmflynnire yes, 'follow me' said Jesus. Do as I do....so its about living a Christ-like life, which is often in direct opposition to 'the world'. Kingdom of God/ Caesar. Christ as 'the way', not a doctrinal formula; transformation, not transaction; ongoing growth, not 'statement of belief'.

@spectator @michaelgove some truth here - yes, police etc are painfully ignorant of Muslim credos and lifestyle; they probably also avoid what might be labelled 'racist' #bettertraining But on Brexit? Come on. NOT the way to address decline, immigration or identity. dereg? no use if trade is damaged!

So a foreign country, Spain, gets to decide who can and who cannot come into Gibraltar- a British Overseas Territory. What looney tune of a British politician thinks this is a good deal? Oh yes, Send for Starmer. With him getting only 33.7% of the vote at the last General Election and just 20% of the electorate voting Labour Starmer really is the Sellout Supremo. We don’t need a new Prime Minister in a few weeks time- as gone he will surely be- we need a new General Election!

@havingagiraf @LizWebsterSBF We should be wary of equating 'supporting Christianity' with nationalism. 'Christian' means 'little Christ' - being a follower of Jesus & trying to be like him. Compassion for the needy and vulnerable. Challenging the rich and exploitation of the poor. Doesn't sound like Reform!

🚨 Reform’s Zia Yusuf says he’ll “restore Britain’s Christian heritage” Proposals include: – A patriotic curriculum centred on Christianity – Blocking churches being converted into mosques – Mandatory home searches after Prevent referrals – Net-negative migration + expat return drive When politics moves from border control to defining national identity by religion, that’s a fundamental shift. Britain is a plural democracy, not a confessional state.

@havingagiraf @mikebirdy @LizWebsterSBF Islam in the UK doesn't have an organisational structure through which to 'exert' itself. It does though seem ironic for Yusuf to be supporting an agenda that would impose new discriminations. 'Christian heritage' is NOT the same as 'being a Christian - a follower of Jesus'

@mikebirdy @LizWebsterSBF The fact remains, Christian’s, Jews, Hindus, Mormons, Buddhists all happily co-exist and have for decades. But suddenly we have religious tensions as Islam is desperately trying to exert itself and make the Uk a Muslim country.

@spectator The man who attacked Coskun could have come out and tried engaging in dialogue to defuse the situation. Instead, he chose an act of violence that could have resulted in a fatal stabbing, and his actions have been rewarded by him not being sent to prison. Dark times if CPS win.

My name is Hamit Coskun and last year I was convicted in a British court of religiously aggravated public order offense. My “crime”? Burning a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London. Moments later, I was attacked in full view of the street by a man. I was hospitalized. Then I was arrested and convicted in Westminster Magistrates Court. I managed to get that conviction overturned, with the help of the Free Speech Union and the National Secular Society, but now the Crown Prosecution Service is appealing my acquittal, with the case being heard tomorrow in the High Court. Now I am in discussions with the White House about claiming asylum in America in case the decision goes against me. ✍️ Hamit Coskun Article | spectator.com/article/i-burn…
