@oelma__ Also you kids going into trades reduces competition for the rich kids cementing caste society trends. They want your kids fighting for trade jobs with the fear porn about AI taking all the white collar jobs. Jobs that do decision making about our lives all require degrees

@dcyimbys We already have cities, urban grid and transit ready streets overrun with crime and drug markets and tents. Fix them. We don’t need to build new without fixing problems of urban decay first. NYC streets are starting to resemble SF tenderloin and residents are fighting

Highways destroy homes. Upzoning creates them. When you refuse to build new homes for people to live, wealthy residents outbid poorer residents for housing and push them out of less expensive neighborhoods. Building new homes lets everyone live in the neighborhood!
The Committee of 100 DC@Commof100DC

OP's massive, citywide upzoning will cause displacement by directly and immediately raising land values and housing costs and directly and immediately enriching landowners and developers. Massive upzoning is like the interstate highways that tore up communities in the 1970s

@Real1JMT @TheCityMentor Do you know what this is in the photos? It’s fake misinformation. There is a vast east river revitalization (flood protection) work going on. There is a vast waterfront park already with playgrounds and trees being planted. These bots lie

@nycconservat @TheCityMentor Various anti car and commie bots are swarming X with fake photos and misinformation. There is already a vast park under and next to FDR. Too many propaganda bots spewing nonsense. They likely post fake photos of other cities. Ppl speaking the truth get blocked, so they continue

@TheCityMentor Spot posting fake photos of NYC, bots. There is already a vast waterfront park under the hwy and along the East river. The hwy isn’t going anywhere because the island of millions needs goods/services/people going in and out. It’s an essential artery between the boroughs

@ReadThinkTweet2 @qfly_myx @RealKidPoker Far, far more goes to the needy if a church is doing the work, because that’s one of the church’s primary roles. They are more careful to make the money stretch as far as possible.

I think it’s closer to $102k per person based on what I dug up. It would be cheaper for SF to hand out a $50k brick of cash to every homeless person every year. That would save over $400 million a year. That’s not my suggestion, but it’s an illustration of just how horrendous government can be at using tax payer dollars to run programs. Where is all this money actually going?
Citizenj17 ✝️🇺🇸@citizenj17

San Francisco spends $141,852 per Homeless Person on Average which is almost be same as the median household income for 2025. Let that sink in.

@TimTheWitness @RealKidPoker They also create jobs. Sadly anything indirectly taxpayer subsidized is the biggest job creator. Top employers in the country are healthcare, gov, education

@AlexaRuthless @RealKidPoker Our taxes to address problems go to create Jobs. The problems cannot go away, as they are needed to employ ppl since our private industries do everything they can to employ as few Americans as possible. Top employers in the country are healthcare/gov/education. Tax supported

@RealKidPoker The reason why the cost to deal with a homeless seems always be the median income of a city is because the money is just being used to pay government worker or NGO salaries. The cost in NYC is also exactly the same as the median household income.

@RealKidPoker Except you would have to appreciate $102k or person because the people handing out our work keep $52k per person or maybe all of it. Charity is best left to churches.

@RealKidPoker The money is going to create jobs since government is one of the top 3 employers in our country. Even in CA top 3 employers are healthcare/gov/education. Sadly, we are paying taxes to employ each other. But there is likely also fraud and someone getting paid more (siphoning)

@JessePeltan Electricity costs also can go up. You need energy either way. Electric energy is objectively cleaner (when it comes to exhaust) but batteries also carry problems with needing raw materials and not much in terms of recycling toxic elements that go into them, all needs addressing

@AlanHigh4 @LangmanVince It’s a monopoly for certain type of mailings, all types of bills, IRS and local government correspondence, fines, summonses, check refunds, banks, etc. also a whole bunch of advertisement junk mail. Privatizing this would mean still selecting one service to streamline all this

good - close it up. Discontinue USPS service. Sell off the assets - trucks, property, mahcinery - all of it. Lay off every worker - they can go get jobs at UPS, Amazon, FedEx and DHL. Think of the billions in savings - what was their budget last year? Change federal law - allowing delivery of "mail" to homes. That is the only reason we still need the USPS - it's a government monopoly. BUT...BUT....the forementioned companies visit every home & business in America. Adding "mail" to their service offerings would be "cake" - so there would be no loss of service. UPS & FedEx even have stores you can go into for a person to help you. Now is the time!

@wtgphoto @FinancialPhys Billionaires complaining how they have to sell stocks if required to pay some wealth or unrealized gains tax get more support than people who end up having to sell their homes when their taxes go up, even if they don’t intend to sell and move.

What really gets me is that each year property taxes are assessed on the current value of a home, not the original purchase price. That means you’re paying taxes on unrealized gains, only to turn around and pay taxes again on the realized gain from your original purchase price when you sell your home. Home owners are getting double taxed on property and despite politicians talk about reducing property taxes, they only ever go up, even after tax relief!

@Dolphinotfish @DarrigoMelanie The point is that they won’t be deported and you know this. Having them living in a limbo and be a permanent welfare class is more draining then letting them earn their living. They also can leave sanctuary cities for cheap COL places where labor is needed vs subsisting/mooching

@TheUrbanTrucker @TransAlt @bfurnas Bikers don’t have license plates to be accosted by camera surveillance. If you get a speeding ticket by a cop you have to show up, isn’t this also the case? Reckless driving too. Speed cameras are diff. But can’t use them in bike lanes. Now what? How to enforce rules for bikes?

@TheUrbanTrucker @TransAlt @bfurnas How do bikers even get tickets? Likely because there is a witness and someone got hurt. There are no cameras in bike lanes or license plates. It’s illegal to have ppl summoned to court without witnesses. Why this isn’t done for cars as the city wants to collect speeding fees
