@PhilipDBunn I feel the same about the people who omit the (unquestionably best) verse in Crown Him with Many Crowns that contains potentate of time, creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.

I’m not saying that people who remove “thee,” “thou,” “thy,” “thine,” etc in modern hymnbooks, thereby ruining internal rhymes, should be “excommunicated.” But I am saying if YOU said they should be excommunicated, I could see the argument.

@Moustache_bq @ukboomers Aren’t the wine rings on the slate countertop just washable as part of the routine kitchen cleanup? They were renters, it’s not their house, they didn’t trash the place. They just didn’t leave it in pristine condition but they were renters.

I had to charge £200 for extra cleaning on our Cornwall Airbnb this week. £400 a night and look what they did. Wine rings on the slate. Cups everywhere. A candle burnt to nothing. In our day you left a place better than you found it. Now they walk away like it's a hotel.

Some good news. I’m delighted and humbled to have been appointed Principal Oversight Lead for Liturgical Hospitality and Eucharistic Refreshment Logistics. Excited about getting back into ministry! Do pray for me as I begin this vital work. #CalledToServe @churchofengland

This must have been an astonishing church in its time - now an Art’s Centre. I don’t think the ultimate Creator, Author and Artist would mind too much that this is what his house has become…I hope not. Member of my congregation is the Conductor tonight. 🙏🏻

An informal survey of annual number of PCC meetings being chaired by new incumbents (sample of 100 in a national group) has revealed 13% - chair 15-18 PCCs 12% - chair 19+ PCCs (some up to 35 annually!) Is this sustainable governance for C of E? Is it saving the parish?

@Revdangi @DavePiperDJ @alysrtarr And we need people willing to go to the hard places (our next door deanery has only one incumbent at the moment). We're ordaining a different demographic and that might mean that some places still can't get clergy...

Not the first time I’ve been asked if I’m going for ordination, but this reason was novel.

@krishk I suggest they do it to your home & car next so you can "value what they're trying to do" up close and personal.

There’s been a huge overreaction to a temporary artistic installation in Canterbury Cathedral. I’ll be honest — it’s not to my personal taste. But I value what the Cathedral is trying to do. Through a series of workshops, groups were invited to collaborate around a simple but profound question: “What would you ask God?” The resulting installation, created by poet Alex Vellis and curator Jacquiline Creswell, gives voice to the spiritual curiosity and honesty of those who took part. Among the questions displayed are: “Why did you create hate when love is by far more powerful?” and “Does everything have a soul?” Rather than seeing this as an act of provocation, perhaps we could see it as an act of invitation — a call to listen, to engage, and to recognise that even our hardest questions can be part of our search for truth. I have seen US commentators claim this is the fall of Britain and some claim this is sacrilege. Wait till they read the Psalms where the scriptures give voice to some even more outrageous prayers.

The Church of England decided this week to cover the interior of the oldest cathedral in England in graffiti in order to represent the voices of “marginalised communities.” The Very Rev David Monteith, Dean of Canterbury, said: “There is a rawness which is magnified by the graffiti style, which is disruptive. It is unfiltered and not sanitised.” “This exhibition intentionally builds bridges between cultures, styles and genres and allows us to receive the gifts of younger people who have much to say.” It’s actually stunning how much the elite of Britain hate their own culture and civilisation. You couldn’t even invent this as satire. They are literally scrawling graffiti on the walls of ancient cathedrals. Everything beautiful is just torn down and destroyed.

@patrick_kidd You’d have thought! But it’s often fiercely opposed on the ground, and presumably technically requiring pastoral reorganisation, leaving us in a situation where we’re having a significant percentage of our new incumbents spend time in governance rather than teaching.

Why would @SkyNews announce the next Archbishop of Canterbury without naming her, but instead naming her husband and the number of children she has?

At least the Archbishop of Uganda is being honest. It’s not that Abp Vann preaches anything. It’s not that she even ‘practices’ something. It’s that she *is* something. GAFCON hate *us*, and they want to eliminate *us*. monitor.co.ug/uganda/news/na…
