If I was a billionaire, one of my pet projects would be a large irrigation system of pivots, hooked up to a central computer to control timing so that they could overlap, leaving no corners.
Overwatering would be controlled via solenoids on the drops.

@thesapper2 No, that's why I said solenoids on the drops, there would be no overwatering, you'd have them programed to shut off on the overlap. I've seen it done before. Also, unlike laterals, there'd be no above ground infrastructure aside from the pivot itself
