@stuartpengs If species recovery was the only thing going on then a fair point. It is though one strand among many, all of which are needed. A shame we have to restore some species from near or even actual national extinction, but it’s where we are & work on this is needed.

The sleight of hand with species reintroductions being marketed as 'conservation' the trajectory can only ever be upwards. You're starting from zero so any amount is a 'conservation success'. REAL conservation of declining species is a whole other ball game. It infuriates me that people fall for it as conservation.

@TonyJuniper @Steveredwolf the @mod_dio wanted to cut the acid grassland on middlewick in march but reluctantly backed down, failed to adhere to a grass cutting management plan last year, this is why we need a sssi and proper management

@Steveredwolf Those pressures can cause problems too (you missed out the damage caused by early mowing for silage in some places), but do read the original link & the reflections of Ian Newton, one of our most accomplished ornithologists.

This guy was supposed to be a naturalist who would help Nature - He isnt he spouts this sort of rubbish -its human activity thats the problem shooting,developing,disturbing, felling, burning,clearning, off lead dogs that is the problem not nature

Britain is on track to miss its legally binding nature recovery targets. That means fewer species, weaker ecosystems and risks to the food security we rely on. This isn’t inevitable. Labour can turn it around with a properly funded nature rescue plan.

@greenarteries With the nightingale in such decline, trying to build on two of their biggest remaining breeding sites (at Lodge Hill & at Middlewick Ranges) is really quite outrageous.
