@Venkydotdev Yeah, Trump ended the AI race for America. No new models = no funding = China wins. Not to mention every CEO now sees that Trump isn't leading with clear policy, he's making impossible decrees on a whim. At any point, an AI-enabled product could be declared illegal. Bye bye $$$.

@DavidSacks Regardless of the why, the how Trump has responded has effectively destroyed AI adoption in America. Every CEO will read the story and see that Trump isn't leading with clear policy, he's making decisions after-the-fact. CEOs can't plan. They'll hit invisible mines after launch.

I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

@Pro__Trading That sounds like sheeple talk. Immigrants aren't taking anything from you. That's political propaganda to take your attention off the fact that both sides of the aisle are spending America into oblivion to buy your vote and expecting the working class to pick up the bill.

@DanielMiessler It's worse. Trump effectively ended AI adoption in America. He showed every CEO that he's not leading with policy, but with decrees made on a whim. CEOs can't plan, can't avoid. Any AI-enabled application could become illegal overnight depending on what provider you used.

@themagaking What percentage of employed people in the USA earn a livable wage? I don't mean mom and dad both slaving full time and maybe having their kids help pay rent. I mean a single person able to support their family like they could in the 50's?

Elon Musk's companies employ roughly 170,000 people. AOC drove Amazon out of New York, killing 40,000 jobs. One creates. The other destroys. They are not the same.

@mikeydsoftware Why does everyone keep equating impressive AI with AGI? Just a few of things we're still missing for AGI: - Creativity - Ability to define its own goals / wants / needs - Ability to generalize, taking what it knows and applying it to new situations - Ability to learn on-the-fly

@KaiXCreator AI code is bad I'll give you that, but you can't honestly claim that the quality hasn't improved. That's just silly. Yes, it's bad at architecting. That's something that you, the human, still need to do. If you don't, then you get what you deserve. Garbage-in, garbage-out.

@burkeholland Not yet, but it will be. For now, I'd say your ability to architect, design, and plan are the most important abilities you could have. That and moving multiple tasks forward at the same time. That's an underappreciated skill that's now critical in the age of AI.

@Milajoy Both sides of the aisle suck and need to be ousted. What to replace them with though? AI? That's about the only alternative. At least it would be efficient, fair, incorruptible, able to keep up with the rapid need for AI regulation, etc. Unfortunately, it would also hallucinate.

Social Security is expected to be insolvent in 6 years. When Elon Musk ran D.O.G.E. they found trillions in waste, FRAUD, and abuse. This would more than cover Social Security for a century. Was it just found but nothing was done about it? Is it still being paid to fraudsters today? Our government hates us.

Why is there so much hate for Elon Musk right now? He just became the world’s first trillionaire… And suddenly everyone’s furious. But this is the same guy creating thousands of jobs, building electric cars, reusable rockets, and pushing technology forward. What exactly is the crime? Succeeding? Innovating? Creating value? I genuinely don’t understand the level of hate.
