I think one of the main reasons the modern work-from-home is so miserable is because of this insistence on facing the desk towards the wall or even window. You either feel like you’re in a cubicle or cell. A desk is supposed to face the entrance, ready to receive any visitors or intruders. You can spin around to enjoy the view if you have one, rather than always be faced with the outside world you’re not in because you’re working.
