Horrible, horrible situation in Sudan, where stories are starting to filter out of the carnage inflicted by the RSF on the civilian population of El Fasher, aided by arms shipment from the UAE. It is something that aid groups had been warning about for months. In the period 2005-09, I regularly visited Darfur as an aid worker, and reading these stories now, bring back many memories of that time, which was in the aftermath of the 03/04 genocide. The burnt out homes we passed on the roads outside Kass, the stories from villagers about what was still happening in their communities. The clusters of little circles, each a destroyed village, visible from the UN helicopter as we travelled between towns. And, of course, the sprawling camps of desparate people around the main towns, the corruption and obstruction by the then authorities, and the many attacks by militia on aid agencies, including my own. Then, it dominated the headlines in the west. Now, hardly anyone seems to care as the RSF mow down large groups of women, children, and men in El Fasher. I find myself veering between fighting back my tears and my anger about both the callousness there and the carelessness here.

The RSF shot civilians by the dozen, street by street, and chased others fleeing, survivors of the first two days of the al-Fashir takeover told us. Their testimonies help explain what al-Fashir - cut off from the world - might look like now. Our story: reuters.com/world/africa/f…

Is there a German journalist that can kindly talk about this? It’s quite disheartening to see that among the most populous EU countries, Germany is scoring so low. Are citizens actually informed about this initiative? Link: citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/de…

Terrifying reality check. CNN exposes the "death of expertise" in the Trump administration. Pete Hegseth is actively planning to shut off power to incubators for babies in Iran without consulting a single legal or military expert. The Pentagon is openly plotting war crimes.

Israel is destroying southern Lebanon. This is not war, it’s deliberate annihilation. Where is the outrage or media coverage?

MSF International
Lebanon - Around 2pm Sunday, Israeli forces struck a densely populated residential area in Beirut, only meters from Rafik Hariri Public Hospital, where MSF is supporting with an ER doctor. A mass-casualty influx followed: people bleeding, some carried on shoulders. In the first hour, 4 were killed and nearly 40 injured; more casualties are feared as rubble is cleared. “We are seeing elderly people and adolescents arriving with critical injuries to the head, chest and abdomen, including shrapnel wounds,” says Dr. Luna Hammad, MSF Medical Coordinator, from the ER at Rafik Hariri Public Hospital. “When strikes hit crowded residential areas without warning, the consequences are severe: both in human casualties and in hospitals’ capacity to respond.” MSF condemns this attack on civilians in a highly populated area and calls for the protection of civilians and health facilities. Strikes this close to a hospital spread fear and can stop people from seeking lifesaving care. MSF is donating a mass-casualty kit and will continue supporting hospitals with medical expertise and essential medical and non-medical supplies. Civilians cannot be collateral damage.

Au contraire, @SenSchumer, this *is* who you are. You and successive Democratic Party bigwigs empowered one criminal President after another to wage war without congressional approval and without meaningful debate. You also praised and enabled Israel as it carried out monstrous crimes with total impunity. The Democrats bear much of the blame for the calamity that has befallen the world.

The second village destroyed by the Israeli army today. After leveling Naqoura, Israeli forces released footage showing the destruction of the village of Taybeh in southern Lebanon. No international condemnation. No outrage.

The military will follow illegal orders. They've been doing it the entire time. We're hours away. If the Cabinet and Congress don't intervene now, the American people will be tarnished in blood with the guilt of war crimes we will all bear until we die.

Why attacking power plants is against the international law? @TIME: The destruction of power plants could lead to widespread blackouts and impact hospitals, water treatment facilities and food supply chains. time.com/article/2026/0…

Iran’s only functioning nuclear plant, the Bushehr power plant, has come under repeated attacks in the US-Israeli war on Iran, raising fears of a possible nuclear incident that could prove “catastrophic” across all Gulf countries. Here’s what to know aje.news/i62pwf

Running out of language to denounce and condemn. Iranian Civilians will be the first to suffer from the destruction of power plants and bridges. No heat, no electricity, no water, no capacity to move or to flee, and all that it means for their right to life. A revolting statement

Threatening war crimes and mocking Islam isn't a sign of strength, it's a sign of weakness. The PM should rule out UK forces and airfields being used for any attacks on Iranian civilian infrastructure. What more will it take for Starmer to call off the Royal Visit Trump craves?

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

@LawrenceFo56660 @NickKristof In the middle of a war? For admin reasons? Really? Overall don't you think we need to stop making excuses for the mad lack of restraint we see & that may have generational repercussions? We're in a very dangerous place in history - the US wld be on the wrong side of it this time.

President Trump threatens war crimes, such as destroying Iran's electrical grid and desalination plants. This is silly as well: Iran gets 3% of water from desalination, compared to half in Saudi Arabia and 90% in Kuwait. Do we really want to escalate in that direction?
