We built ChatGPT for Clinicians around the tasks clinicians already bring to AI: care consults, writing/documentation, and medical research. Today, ChatGPT for Clinicians is rolling out to verified clinicians in the U.S. to start, including physicians, NPs, PAs, and pharmacists. openai.com/index/making-c…

Today we’re introducing two big steps for health at OpenAI: - ChatGPT for Clinicians, a free version of ChatGPT designed for clinical work - HealthBench Professional, a new benchmark to evaluate real clinician chat tasks We’re excited about what this can unlock for care. ❤️

After overhauling the React architecture of GitHub's "Files changed" tab, we dropped Interaction to Next Paint (INP) from ~450ms to ~100ms. 📉 React components cut from 8 to 2 per line 🔑 O(1) data access with JS Maps 🪟 Window virtualization for giant PRs

@kitten_beloved I'm just here to complain about input latency being so high. It should be determined by your input device's hz, not by a game processing your input many frames late

I think this tweet might be technically wrong but very many people think it's right, not 100% sure why yet Apparently 50ms (3 frames) of latency between button press and pixel changes was common on the SNES, 30 ms (2 frames) on the NES
Kitten 🐈@kitten_beloved

Latency basically killed this kind of game play 20ms or more input lag, another 20ms display lag, it's a very serious disadvantage Modern games design action and combat around these constraints

Codex app team needs to slow down with the features and focus on the performance. It's so bad that sending a prompt takes 30 seconds+ Long threads cause issues, text disappears etc Also computer use in EU it's time Other than that: Tied with Cursor for most useful + beauty

@kitten_beloved Super smash bros melee had 52 ms of input lag. Mike tyson's punch out has 52 MS as well. I think it's more that onlne play causes 100 ms effective pings.

So I was reading about various PLs and apparently J*a*i lang doesn't have a publicly available compiler? And you can only get a binary from The Guy personally, but never the source? And folks been making open source impls based on a non-public poorly documented spec?

I asked Jensen: “2 out of the top 3 models in the world, Claude and Gemini, were trained on TPU. What does that mean for Nvidia going forward?” After a long technical back and forth about what the right accelerator for AI looks like (see full episode), Jensen lays down the gauntlet: Jensen: "Nvidia's computing stack is the best performance per TCO in the world, bar none. Dylan's InferenceMax is sitting out there for everybody to use, and TPU won't come, Trainium won't come. Nobody wants to show up." “I'm not offended by other people using something else and trying things. If they don't try these other things, how would they know how good ours is?” “There are always big claims, but look at the number of ASICs that have been canceled. Just because you're going to build an ASIC, you still have to build something better than Nvidia. It's not that easy building something better than Nvidia. Nvidia's got to be missing something seriously, because of our scale and our velocity.”

This is an open letter to @jasoncitron and the board at @discord. cc: @benchmark @IndexVentures @Greenoaks @GreylockVC @coatuemgmt @Sony @TencentGlobal Discord is an amazing product. It offers freemium private or public servers for communication, these can be used as forums, information caches, or more. Discord’s problem is well-known, it sells to a younger userbase, this creates a wide series of problems — these users are fickle, they expect more, and they do not expect to pay — contrast this to other app-based private forums like Slack where users: pay (a lot! see attached), ask for relatively little, and do not churn off. Slack was purchased by Salesforce in 2021 for $28bb, it’s estimated current revenue is around $2.5bb. Discord is a private company with an estimated current valuation of around $7-10bb, and revenue of around $800mm. Interestingly, a Discord user would never consider using Slack. A Slack user would consider using Discord. The largest problem impeding this is a branding problem, Discord is used primarily by online-first and young communities, such as gamers. Not particularly attractive branding for an enterprise company looking to have a server for communications. Meanwhile both Slack itself and Discord users would never consider the other, because of a financial mismatch. With that said, the Discord product is fantastic and contains everything needed on a basic level to compete with Slack. The solution is exceedingly simple, Discord needs to hire a semi-autonomous team, which has access to their core IP for a product whitelabel. If Discord was willing to empower a small team to create, say “Accord, powered by Discord”, it could immediately aim to double its market capitalization and attack Slack’s userbase. Humam Sakhnini, your current CEO is a former consultant and investment banker, he is optimized for CFOing a company to public markets to engineer an exit. With the rise of vibe-coding and LLMs, SaaS multiples have cratered and the private secondary valuation of Discord has fallen steeply. Discord needs a CEO who can empower teams for asymmetric upsides, such as attacking a new, better-paying demographic, with a very small team dedicated entirely to whitelabelling and rebranding Discord’s product for enterprise. I hope you can rally the team and think beyond simply iterating endlessly on minor features and consider louder and more interesting iterations to Discord as an entity. I am happy to stand-in as an external consultant in a pro-bono capacity. Best regards, Saila
Alex Cohen@anothercohen

I'm tempted to finally churn off Slack. We're paying ~$6k/year for 40 people and they just quoted me $21k/year for the business version that includes a BAA (and all the shitty AI features). Incredibly overrated software
