CAR FINANCE COMPENSATION SCHEME TO BE LAUNCHED BY @THEFCA (brief notes done at speed, full video explainer to follow) - It will go back to 6 April 2007 until Nov 2024 - It will cover discretionary commission arrangements, high commission (commission 35%+ of total credit cost and 10% of the loan) and contractual ties that gave a lender exclusivity or a right of first refusal. Already complained (3.25m have via my MSE tool alone)? You will be notified that you'll be included in the compensation scheme within 3mths (of what I need to clarify) and can opt out. Not complained? If firms identify you as likely missold they must contact you within 6mths (of what I need to clarify) and you must opt in Compensation Amount: For most cases, except some in the extreme, it'll average 17% of the interest cost, so £170 per £1,000 of interest. Average payout will be £700. It estimates total redress cost of £8.2bn (including interest). This is just my first bash at this, I'm going to go and speak to the FCA now, will then make more notes, then record a video.
