I am a *very* new startup investor.
As I work to educate myself, I've appreciated things like @HustleFundVC 's no a-hole policy & @govclab's focus on ethical investing. In particular, I support their Mensarius Oath for ethical investing.

@Jackovin @galeforceVC @Steven_Molino I think there is a ton of need and opportunity for early stage investor education outside of coastal ecosystems.
English

@_kirps @galeforceVC @Steven_Molino That would be tough to talk to the founders and tell them their cap table is messing up their future. I'd want to have a talk with the investor(s) to explain the situation on behalf of the founder.
English

@Jackovin @galeforceVC @Steven_Molino Exactly. In areas where pre-seed and seed deals are less common, and money more risk averse the information gap allows these two to combine to create zombie companies before either realizes it.
English

@_kirps @galeforceVC @Steven_Molino So an inexperienced founder takes say $300k from an inexperienced investor for 50%? That is obviously waaaay overvaluing the capital.
English

@Jackovin @galeforceVC @Steven_Molino @Jackovin In our area, I’ve seen the combination of first-time founders and inexperienced early stage investors create this potential. The difficult being that those investors are typically overvaluing their capital and unwilling to restructure.
English

@galeforceVC @Steven_Molino Super curious. What events occurred where founders own <50% going into the seed?

@vongillern @aaron_hoffman But 2, even if we grant that a fetus is a fully alive person with full rights, no person has the right to use another person’s body without their consent. A fully alive person can’t harvest organs for life saving procedures without the consent of the corpse and/or it’s family.
English

@vongillern @aaron_hoffman Which means it’s debatable, which means we are restricting the bodily autonomy of an definitely alive person, in the interest of a debatably alive blastocyst
English

@vongillern @aaron_hoffman I actually have. And it shows that there is 1 doctor among the million and change that was a monster. Give me any demographic there is and you can find 1 in a million. He’s an awful outlier, not a solid basis for legislation.
English

@vongillern @aaron_hoffman Abortions even after 13 weeks are rare, full term abortions are practically nonexistent and no one is doing them just because people don’t feel like having the baby. Mental health is health and takes like the one above are just scare tactics.
English

@vongillern @aaron_hoffman That’s also just not an accurate characterization of the law or it’s practical implementation. It requires a licensed medical pro acting within the lawful scope of their practice to determine abortions after 24 weeks are necessary to protect the life and health of the mother
