If I walked into a women's bathroom and saw a man trying to help his daughters, I'd ask if he needs help or I'd just wait outside until they’re done. The girls needed to use the bathroom and their dad chose the one where they wouldn't inadvertently see a man's penis at a urinal.

"I want to talk about #Sheffield for a second.
Because people always give me grief when I bring it up. Like I’ve gotten the wrong end of something. Like there must have been a misunderstanding.
There wasn’t.
We got off the train. Walked up that hill. Completely exhausted, two small kids, no idea where we were going or where we were eating. Just quietly trying to figure it out.
And people were smiling at us.
Not because they could hear our accents. We weren’t talking. We were just there. And people just looked genuinely happy to have us around.
I know that sounds simple. I know that sounds like a small thing.
It was not a small thing. Not for me.
I grew up in the United States as a person of colour and I learned very early that how you present yourself in public is not just a style choice. It is a calculation. You think about what you wear. You think about how you walk. You think about whether the way you look is going to make someone clutch their bag or cross the street or decide you are a threat before you have opened your mouth.
I did that every single day without even realising I was doing it.
Sheffield was the first place I got off a train and just forgot to.
Nobody sized me up. Nobody decided anything about me before I’d had a chance to be a person. We got more smiles because we had little kids running around than we got anything else.
Then it happened in Carlisle. And in Bath. And in Oxford. And in Edinburgh. And it just kept happening. Every single time I braced for something that never came.
At some point I had to stop and actually reconstruct what I thought I knew about how the world worked.
Because nobody warned me it could feel like this.
Sheffield, you were first. I will not forget that."

This dad was just trying to keep his two little girls safe on a long road trip. He checked the empty women’s restroom at QuikTrip and took them in—no family option, and men’s rooms aren’t suitable for young daughters. Out of nowhere, an angry older man storms in, screaming for him to get out and calling the cops because “his wife” needed it. The girls start crying in fear while their dad stays calm and protective. The store manager even apologized and sided with the father.

I love America, but I hate to burst your bubble: if you are on Twitter, and you are getting posts about how Europeans visiting for the World Cup are completely in awe of American food and grocery stores— I have to be honest with you and tell you you are being fed complete nonsense by the algorithm.
I’ve traveled to almost every European country, and there isn’t a single one which doesn’t have better grocery stores and higher-quality restaurant food than the USA.

This is one of the very worst things I’ve ever read. The sheer hell Preston Davey was subjected to is beyond words.
Perhaps some small amount of justice may be served to the monsters within jail.
We need to seriously be considering whether gay men should be allowed to adopt children.
