One thing I love about Britain is there’s always someone passionately claiming that the most random part of any food is “the best bit!” Sandwich crusts? “Best bit!” End of a loaf? “That’s the only reason I buy bread!” Apple core? “You don’t chuck that, do you? Best bit!” Small overcooked bits of chips? “Ooh, I ask for more of these! Best bits!” Orange peel? “Best bit, that! Chuck the the rest of the orange away!” Skin on custard/rice pudding? “Ooh save that for me. Scoop it up and drape it on my tongue. Best bit!” Pork chop fat? “Don’t waste that! Give it here and I’ll have it in a sandwich made with just end pieces of bread and some of your leftover baked bean juice (best bit of the beans, that)” Blackened, rock-hard end of a garlic baguette with no garlic on it at all? “You’re not leaving that, are you? Best bit! Send it my way…”

Just queued for 30 minutes to fill up my nearly empty tank. The guy in front of me had only put £4.50 of petrol in his car. Great to know we still live in a country full of fucking idiots.

Legit curious. On a cruise. Saw a woman who was probably 500 pounds, easy. Insanely fat. Needed a scooter to get around. Has 6 plates of food in front of her. Do these folks just,..not care that they are morbidly obese?

@mikegallacher1 My first hip, the surgeon wouldn’t allow any of his patients up until they had been X rayed . I thought that was awful because it was 48 hours until it was done. Was it not visible on your X Ray ? Had it been missed ? Or hadn’t you had one then ? Absolutely awful ordeal

@ashawolves It is a common, and routine procedure. Occasionally things go wrong, as in this case, and it can be dealt with at the time. For some reason nobody checked, nobody noticed. I required nearly six hours of surgery and immeasurable levels of pain because nobody spotted the problem.

At 18:30 I’ve arrived back to my ward after 5 hrs in theatre rebuilding and repairing a femur that was broken in the previous days hip replacement surgery. I told you it wasn’t “just the normal pain after surgery”, It was the most painful experience of my life. No fun was had!!!

@Oceanbreeze473 Why would anyone hide it ? I’d say a good half are alcoholic. My mother drank herself to death at 41 and a cousin on my dads side choked to death in drink

@TeresaMcClure14 @SteveOnSpeed I mean..if it was a problem..it would have shown up by now. Not everyone is supposed to be slim . If you’re healthy now ..long may it last .I suppose cutting down on sugar won’t hurt..good luck

@Stone2541 @SteveOnSpeed Oh please. Not everything has to be psychoanalyzed. They just love food and love eating and they don’t have the will to regulate themselves. That’s pretty much it.

@SteveOnSpeed I’m not 500 lbs but still fat. I’m trying hard for the first time at the age of 70. I have no health concerns and I’ve been fortunate. Being hungry won’t kill me but being fat just might. My new outlook. Down 16 lbs. and feeling great.

@SteveOnSpeed Never seen an alcoholic drinking booze? Or a druggie begging? It’s an addiction, but somehow obese people seem to get a lot more criticism.

One of my favourite yearly traditions is spending £150 on garden supplies so i don't have to spend £2 on tomatoes at the supermarket. 😂

Maybe do some exercise to counteract this? Women’s bodies were designed to carry breasts, i don’t accept that all these complaints are caused by slightly large breasts, or even very large, that can’t be fixed with the right bra and exercises. Her choice for organ cutting off though. It’s legal.

@Weezus07 Imagine being left that by some grandparents or distant relatives 😮. I know one woman who was left a house by the beach in Norfolk..like this one . Except this one is far far superior because it’s part of the best place in the World..Edinburgh ♥️

@EmbracingTara My problem is I love good bread but my husband is still stuck on low carb. If I made my own I would eat ALL of it. Maybe in one sitting. I have found a well made sourdough that works for me.

You don't have to make sourdough, even though it is ridiculously easy once you get it down. Yeast bread is still miles healthier than store bought and takes literally 10 minutes of kneading. You can mix and knead it in the evening, do the first rise, (which requires nothing except for you to simply be in the building) - and then throw the dough into loaf pans. You can then do the second rise and bake or put it in your fridge and pull it out to rise and bake. There are even no knead artisan recipes where you literally keep wet dough in the fridge and dump it out and bake it. Do you mean to tell me women who had to beat their clothes on rocks and hand wash all their dishes and carry water from wells and sew all their own clothes had time to bake their family's bread but you don't? Not buying it, sorry.
Mary Riordan@22020mjr

Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had the luxury of “getting off our asses to bake bread?” We all off our asses trying to keep a roof over our heads!
