2019 → 2024 Five years ago, #CLTairport broke ground on the Terminal Lobby Expansion. This renovation includes a 146,000-square-foot canopy, larger checkpoints with greater capacity, more baggage claim carousels, additional concessions, Queens Court with additional seating for customers as well as overhead and lower level walkways. Expected to be complete in 2025, the renovation will accommodate the rapid growth CLT has experienced. The terminal was built in 1982 and designed to accommodate approximately 2.8 million passengers a year. This year, CLT is on track to break its 53.4 million passenger record set in 2023.
