@LewisHoldenNZ given he pauses between the claims I took them as separate claims. in any case Finland is arguably the answer to the combined claim - and indigenous women couldn't vote federally until the 1960s. so....

Carney is correct; even though women's suffrage was gained in NZ in 1893, women couldn't stand for parliament until 1919...

@VinceTaskunas fair point- but in an environment where 60% of elected members are copping a shake-up, an MP with huge name recognition getting a fatter margin counts as a win in my book!
in any case i reckon it gets overturned on (i imagine many) appeals
