Survived potty training BOTH toddlers and it only cost me $250 in chocolate and my children pretentiously asking for “SWISS Chocolate?” every time they need to pee and/or do anything moderately praiseworthy.

@cahwit @NinaPanickssery Outdoor parks and playgrounds are by far the best socialising context for 1-3 year olds. Far less risk of passing on contagious diseases in the open air, great for motor skills, great for independence and confidence. Directed class learning shouldn’t happen so young.

@SethLargo it's not about sports for kindergarten, it's about the schools having unrealistic expectations for impulse control and placidity in active little boys who may need extra time to develop. your son is judged to the quiet little girl standard.

Half of my sons Kindergarten class turned six the first few weeks of class. No advantage when everyone is doing it. Some of these kids get held back again for 9th grade. So they will be almost 20 when they graduate. Just more adolescence extension is all this is.

@MrsBystander I liked it too, it gave me no stress. When my daughter would have a rough night at 4 months, I'd look back to the first weeks to remind me how little she used to sleep! It's nice to feel like everything was moving forward.

I actually found huckleberry really helpful for logging sleep and I tracked feedings and diapers for the first 6 months. I really enjoy data, stats, and graphs tho so maybe I’m the weird one

13 MONTHS?!?! Bro I barely even tracked my first baby for like a week & my second baby for 24 hours when I was in the hospital cuz they wanted me too 😭😭 You guys are not okay….. purposely doing things that are extremely stressful and contributing to high anxiety, and then y’all complain motherhood is hard.

I’m finally starting to see other people share this trick my husband learned about 8 years ago. To see if your colorwork color choices will contrast well and make a visible pattern, take a picture then make it black and white. This blue and orange seem like they’d look well together, but they actually have very little contrast. Both are mid tones.

visiting your first time grandparent mom’s house with a newly mobile baby is frankly horrifying. why is there a battery drawer at floor level? why is there is an industrial sized container of bleach just sitting on the bathroom floor? none of the outlets are covered and there is a screwdriver sitting next to the fireplace, which is also not covered. the house could not have been like this when was a child how am i alive?

weighing the costs and benefits of moving this summer postpartum with 3 under 3 (crazy) versus waiting out another arctic winter in our current inadequate house with 3 under 3 (unpleasant). at least I don't feel like there's a "good" choice here.

@JaniceEK22 I had high blood pressure at the end of my last pregnancy and the home cuff was super helpful - it was never as high at home as it was in the office! It can be nerves too, my BP is always way higher on "big" visits like anatomy scan, glucose day lol

felt like I was crushing this pregnancy: feeling great, active, low weight gain, blood pressure great, baby measuring perfectly. then they hit me with the failing the glucose test so badly I don’t even take the 3 hour one. 🫠

@Megamom1985 that's what's happening to me today! every reading is on the low end of normal, not even close to a problem. I simply don't drink cups full of sugar everyday lol

@cahwit A friend just flunked here, got a glucose meter, and has had perfect numbers ever since. That test is awful. It doesn’t really test what is “normal” for your body.
