@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon Well good, that's the type of stuff that makes you an actual good person, not a twitter poll that has zero consequence which will never happen.

No it isnt The moral dilemma is Is it better to vote red because you think blue cant win so its better to vote red to assure you live and potentially pick up the pieces of a broken world Or is it better to risk your life to attempt to save those kids
Big Richard@BigRichard46

@TheCartoonLoon Okay but then the whole point of the moral dilemma is nullified.

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon Did you miss my other comment? I asked if you live by what you argue on twitter. Or are you purposely avoiding it because in the real world, you're more selfish than me?

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon I'm still waiting for your real world selfless example. Don't tell me you're only altruistic in imaginiary twitter polls.

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon If the entity does this multiple times, it's clearly malicious. It doesn't matter what you choose at that point. If blue wins it'll repeat the question but this time everyone who presses blue gets an eye gouged out. It'll keep escalating until humanity breaks.

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon Completely absurd premise. If the entity said "excluding children and mental invalids, if even one person presses red, all blue pressers die". Could you entrust ~6 billion people to all press blue?

@flockinify @TheCartoonLoon You’re suddenly teleported and asked a question, ya’ll said your first instincts were to push the red button, meanwhile if you push blue, this person could ask the question infinitely or even change premise, “everyone lives” button will always save everyone quite simple, stupid.

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon You're supposed to work with the premise of hypotheticals. If this was real, I would find ways to sabotage the buttons, see if I can make contact with others, and a bunch of other things. The entity certainly wouldn't need my help slaughtering people if it willingly did all this.

@flockinify @TheCartoonLoon Someone irrational just appeared capable of killing half of humanity without repercussion. So you’re fine answering red without knowing what it leads to or how long it would keep on happening?

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon I sure hope with all your moral grandstanding, you actually walk the walk in real life. e.g. When everyone in the US got their $1200 stimulus check, I donated every cent of mine to help the world. If someone as selfish as me can do that, surely you have examples, right?

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon There was no such caveat that the question would be continuously asked on a regular basis. Was that in the fine print or are you just hallucinating?

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon I dare say a society where everyone knows everyone else is on the same wavelength is more cohesive than one where all the blue pushers are as vindictive as you and suspects red pushers from every corner. It was a blind vote, how would you know what the person you're with pushed?

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon Trust is built off tit for tat. Good thing in real life you get to see incremental mutual benefits from helping each other out. Good thing real life isn't blind and a community can see who isn't pulling their weight. Good thing we have an entity who made us push buttons to hate.

@onemantourist @TheCartoonLoon In real life, you're allowed to communicate and coordinate for mutual benefit. Even selfish people are capable of this. Many reds are fine with self sacrifice when it has a tangible effect instead of a blind hail mary that has a good chance of dying completely in vain.

Red will not be able to pick the pieces of a broken world. They will self-preserve. They will not put themselves in harms way to defend another person. That society will fully collapse until humans cease to exist. If they couldn’t press a button to save the current society what would lead you to believe that they can finally come together for a purpose greater than their own?

Freedomain - with Stefan Molyneux, MA
I’m sorry you don’t understand the word “everyone.” Maybe grab a dictionary before debating in English
zamatustra@zamatustra

@StefanMolyneux implying babies, autistic people etc breaks the thought experiment. it wasnt about helping actual victims. it was about people that put themselves in danger. it was about individual vs collective responsibility. Let's consider only people that fully unserstand the implications.

@john_a_lauro @TakiVan1 @LordTankArt I don't think you're allowed to extrapolate evidence from the scenario like that. If you do, people should pick blue purely due to the whole thing probably being a test from an intelligent deity which throws the whole point of the question off.

@TakiVan1 @LordTankArt I believe in God, and life after death, in fact teleporting everyone to a private room for this vote pretty much proves it (or at least some being greater than us, which might not be God). I don't see losing my life as a problem compared to heaven.

High trust society is when you put your life on the line and hope that some stranger 10,000km away chooses the same illogical retarded option as you The entire point is that most societies are NOT high trust and will vote for their own interest. Don't trust them with your life

@SifandShake Not the point. The reason people change from blue to red for 95% is that they can no longer imagine enough people voting blue. Reds simply don't imagine 50% can be reached either. It's not about morals. It's about gauging what you think the rest of the world would do.

@flockinify Ha! What if the question was different? Don't you feel dumb now for answering differently on a question that changes the parameters? Im so smart for thinking of a different question than the one I'm answering Everyone else is dumb and only pretending to care for others unlike me

@DSR_Joker @GillieAmanita In real life you press blue everyday. Putting your life in the hands of others is the only way a society works. Driving is the best example of this, but everyone who helps construct buildings so they don’t collapse and kill ppl, the ppl who grow, distribute and take care of food

I'm a blue-presser HOWEVER I talked to a red-presser and it's not necessarily a selfish or antisocial choice. In that red's mind, blue is guaranteed to lose, because when your life is on the line, they believe more people will press red than was represented in an online poll. 1/

@flockinify If that was the threshold, and literally anyone pressed red, I would personally think that I'm not meant to be surrounded by this much retardation, and I'm glad to have died for my lack of stupidity.

@midyearmoth @ShitpostRock2 Helping each other out usually don't involve risking your life, and typically involves communication and tit for tat coordination. When it does involve life, there's usually a tangible threat that your risking you life can substatially have an effect on, not a 1/8 billion chance.

@ShitpostRock2 Is this really the hill to die on? I liked your stuff but this "everyone would press red actually" and "high trust" stuff is making me realize that you aren't a good person like I thought you were. Most humans, whether you like it or not are of good nature, and help each other.

@matterasmachine Not equivalent. It stands to reason if everyone runs, the tiger would chase down and easily kill routed hunters. Not the same if everyone presses red. Not to mention this is clearly public, with the threat of ostracization later on keeping everyone in line.
