@louisvarge Some ideas are patented. That isn’t really the distinction. The distinction is expression vs functional

@jinijane_ Nah. Guys are probably mysterious to you because they be bullshitting about what they are feeling and what their motivations are. Other guys know when guys be bullshitting. I imagine same with why guys don’t get girls

@42thegreat @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex Oh cool. In the original gollum plans on killing bilbo after he gives the ring over?
English

@formerlymeta @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex This depends on the version of the book, Tolkien retconned The Hobbit multiple times. In the first edition, Gollum is actually pretty chill and has over the ring willingly; in the second, he gets angry after handing it over. You're right w.r.t the third.
English

The actual answer is it was introduced in The Hobbit, a light childrens book, where it was actually just a magic ring, then Tolkien wrote LotR and retconned it

@42thegreat @Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex Bilbo already had the ring. The riddle game was about whether he would show bilbo the way out of the mountain. (He was going to eat bilbo if he won)
English

@Colin61455279 @shitpost9000 @Jbn3ex The riddle game is treated as absolutely holy in The Hobbit, Gollum is basically forced to give Bilbo the ring and then immediately starts planning to kill Bilbo and get it back.

@paulg @Saganismm Caring about man versus person, like training wheels, may be useful for a time but is cumbersome when no longer need
English

@Saganismm I believe this is incorrect, and that in the actual quote it's "man" not "person". Times have changed since then of course, but the way to handle that, if you feel you need to, is to replace "man" with "[person]".
English

@toasterlighting @shakoistsLog What’s your point here. Him implying Scott Adam’s was too stupid to reason with in his loving obituary is supposed to change my option ???
English

Just so weak to post this after someone dies. Unless he wrote about him before in a different form. Very bad form and reflects badly on his character regardless of the content. Also his brand of “I am very self aware and thoughtful” is just rebranded “I am very smart.” Whole corpus will be cringeworthy in less than 5 years
English

@formerlymeta @JoshRainerGold He shouldn’t be an uber driver then.
English

The audacity of the driver what? The audacity of the driver being annoyed.
If you posted that a non-English speaking vegan came into your house to try to eat your snacks and you said they were annoyed when I told them in broken Spanish that I only had beef jerky because your Spanish was broken, I would point out they were mad because you didn’t have any vegan options not because your Spanish sucks. Same thing here.
(I don’t agree with many of the things you are saying but irrelevant)
English

@formerlymeta @JoshRainerGold The point of the post is the audacity of the driver.
If I come into your home and get irritated at the snacks you’ve given me, my audacity would be absurd as well. Same thing happening here.
English

@goobernatorial1 @JoshRainerGold You are evangelizing to me. The drivers feelings are the point of the post.
English

@formerlymeta @JoshRainerGold We can both agree that someone who shows no willingness to learn the language of his host country despite working in its service economy is not entitled to receive sympathy from that host country. The driver’s feelings are unimportant.
English

@goobernatorial1 @JoshRainerGold My point is the driver is not mad about the hesitation in his Spanish but that he is being an annoying customer.
Your point is fine but completely unrelated to my point and whether it is true or false has no bearing on the t or f of what i said.
English

@formerlymeta @JoshRainerGold My point is that regardless of the driver’s feelings about his customer there’s no excuse for working a service job without being able to speak your host country’s language.
English

@goobernatorial1 @JoshRainerGold My point is if they both spoke perfect English or the OP spoke perfect Spanish the guy would’ve been annoyed because of high maintenance customer
English

@formerlymeta @JoshRainerGold He should be annoyed at his own failure to learn the language of the country he lives in.
English

okay, but assuming for the sake of argument that they are note just misidentifications then it would be logical that people at spacex would know about them and also logical that Elon would not publicly discuss it. So if you to a person that believes on the weight of the evidence that there are UAPs then your contention that "dan Fagh" is lying because Elon said he doesn't know anything comes off as silly
English

@Jan6thLarper @Hinezy72 @elonmusk @Dan_Farah @joerogan There is only one view that has evidence…and it’s that UFOs have historically only been misidentifications of man-made objects and weather phenomena and celestial objects.
English

Elon Musk (@elonmusk) has stated multiple times that he’s never seen any evidence of UFOs or aliens. @Dan_Farah has legitimately lied on @joerogan show, claiming that Elon knows more. Here is proof Elon stating the opposite of Farah’s blatant lie and misinformation.

🚨JOE ROGAN: Asks Dan Farah... How Much Does Elon Know? When Rogan pushed the mic forward and asked if Elon Musk is in the loop on non human tech, Farah laughed and said: You don’t operate at that level in space without being keyed in. SpaceX contracts. DoD clearances. Classified flight corridors. That’s not the kind of access you get without trading information. Farah even admitted he screened the film privately at the National Space Symposium, the Super Bowl of the space industry and the SpaceX guys in the room weren’t shocked they already knew what was coming.
