@ApriiSR @Eelektrossfan "Frisk should be referred to as themselves" would be a hilarious take
English

@Eelektrossfan i think deltarune has a singular "themselves" in it
personally i firmly believe that the correct standard is that "themself/themselves" should work exactly like "yourself/yourselves"
English

@toasterlighting so when are you going to make explainsmbc
English

@toasterlighting me now whenever i visit explainxkcd: "that's oomf!"

@toasterlighting @NathanpmYoung @GiveWell She spent a huge amount of money on pretty crazy and radicalized advocacy groups. A few things I remembered was a bunch of pretty radical tenant-rights stuff, a bunch of labor rights advocacy, a huge pile of pretty radicalized social justice advocacy, etc.
English

Comparing McKenzie Scott’s giving to if the money had gone to @GiveWell.
Her donations bought about 1500x less improvement per $ than the marginal GiveWell $
Max Ghenis@MaxGhenis
Her blended portfolio: $435k per QALY. @GiveWell's program averages ($4,000–5,500 per life saved) convert to ~$200 per discounted QALY. Handicapped like-for-like, the frontier still buys ~1,500× more health per marginal dollar — a few hundred× at portfolio scale.
English

@ohabryka @NathanpmYoung @GiveWell I'm unfamiliar with her donations; why have they caused net harm?
English

@NathanpmYoung @GiveWell I am confused, it seems very unlikely from my perspective for her donations to not have caused enormous amount of net harm. How does this calculation arrive at a positive number at all?
English

@xsphi you may have the courage to blame supply, but do you have the courage to blame demand?
English

@agitbackprop @transkatgirl In my defense it was very entertaining
English

@transkatgirl can't tell if this is some double reverse psychology thing
English

@ApriiSR @YosarianTwo I think it's less morally wrong than eating animals probably but still somewhat
English

The fundamental problem with divine command theory of morality is that even if tomorrow you discovered that the Bible explicitly says it's OK to fuck roadkill, you still wouldn't feel good about it, right?
(Also can we please use a less weird example in this discorse?)
CzarLiberty@CzarOfLiberty
This entire discourse has been: “The current flaw with subjective morality is that you could never explain why something as heinous as having sex with roadkill is wrong” To which the reply is “Do you want to fuck roadkill?”
English

@ApriiSR @flowflow_2slow - toby self insert
- pirate
- green
????
English

@flowflow_2slow i can't tell if i should think this has deep ralsei lore implications or not. this being the origin of ralsei is surely going to at least be like, vaguely thematically resonant?
