Basically the TLDR of why Judge Kaplan sent the FTX jury home is to avoid Sam Bankman-Fried shenanigans during the trial. Kaplan knows that Sam will try to overshare and sway the jury and say unnecessary and inappropriate things so he is doing a private hearing, today, without the jury present to hear the gist of Sam's testimony to make sure he is actually providing real information and not stupid nonsense. This is so he doesn't have to waste the juror's time stopping the testimony every minute to reprimand Sam. Kaplan's thinking is likely to just have a private hearing now, get Sam's BS out of the way, set him straight, then let him officially testify tomorrow to a real jury.
