@unusual_whales The question should more be along the lines of: was the actual additional risk taken adequately compensated (usually it's not), and has the outperformance persisted long term (usually it has not), but cool!

@moxie @KennyAJoseph @ProtonPrivacy Thanks for making this! FYI, they do claim far more: "Thanks to zero-access encryption, the conversations you save can only be decoded and read on your device. Proton can never see them, and neither can anyone else." A more detailed comparison from your view would be awesome.

I've been building Confer: private AI chat where your conversations are end-to-end encrypted so that only you can access them. It's still new, but I've been using it every day and beta testing it with friends. Let me know what's missing! confer.to/blog/2025/12/c…

@moxie @diegogurpegui Brave browser worked here, but only on newer macOS version Tahoe, and not with Bitwarden, iCloud Keychain worked.

@diegogurpegui Definitely not a mainstream setup =) It should work on any browser + OS that supports passkey prf. So the default browser + authenticator on Android, but I dunno about GOS / Vanadium. I don't have a device to test with, but if you figure it out please let me know!

Hey @moxie, Confer sounds like a great privacy focus product. However I'm having trouble even signing up. Brave browser is not supported apparently, and Vanadium browser fails at the key generation time. Is this a common issue? Is the supported browser list limited?

@moxie Pretty cool. After testing Proton's go at a private LLM, I was expecting a laggy mess here. But it's super snappy. Nice.

It has been cool to see so many people using Confer over the past few weeks, and I've been working to keep scaling up the backend! I remember the early Signal 24hr sustained traffic milestones (1 msg/sec, 10/s, 100/s, ...) and its fun to see traffic climb through those again🥹

@ianzelbo I don’t think the overall “footprint” is dramatically different in terms of wearing Whoop vs wearing a watch. But if you absolutely don’t want a watch and don’t mind paying for the subscription cost then sure why not.

Thinking about getting whoop Is it worth it? I wear a mechanical watch and will not wear an Apple Watch so it seems like a good compromise

React Native or Flutter for mobile app? I've read 100+ comments from Laravel devs. The choice seems to be this: - Those who are full-stack already working (or planning to) with React, choose React Native - Back-enders only with weaker JS experience, choose Flutter No?

@forgebitz Yeah it really sucks lately. Makes me think all the vibe code maxxers must only be building little todo list apps or landing pages, because it fumbles so hard on anything beyond that.

It’s wild AF that people talk about something funded by extortion with threat of state force as “free”. Yeah costs are moved from “out of pocket” to “paid with taxes” but there is nothing free about the arrangement in any sense of the word. It’s the same everywhere with varying degree of enshittification.

Taxes are a scam. I just paid $2269,90 in taxes for the last month in Romania. I have no benefits from the taxes I pay: - free healthcare, but I end up in private healthcare if I have to treat myself & family - gov workers treat me like crap every time I need something from the gov - no infrastructure for anything (road, business, etc.) - gov services are slower than a snail (I'm waiting for them to connect my water to the new house for 2-3 months) - corruption is high Why I moved back from England to Romania is beyond me. Why I don't leave again to another country is beyond me too.

@JonDotJames vibe coding just means you go with what the agent suggests and work with it until you have an app, it doesn't mean you disengage your brain completely imo

I built an MCP server to 10x the speed I can mock up landing page designs in Cursor in just 10 minutes, 9 prompts, 24 tool calls + $1.65 in cost, I have a 1.6k line server that can find, learn to use, & implement @calebporzio's Flux components in my projects - no more mistakes!

are we seeing the tiny beginnings of apple crumbling as a company? in my mind that's not even possible, they're the 🐐 but they've been fumbling so much lately.. my next phone will probably be an android and the only real thing that keeps me in their ecosystem is mac

@tjewlius For a single page, a landing page or something, simple html/css/js ✅ Reaching for more can make sense if the project is a bit bigger than that imo

Why are most devs these days going straight for a framework/Library even for a small static site that can be built with HTML, CSS & JS? Someone straight up goes for Nextjs
