@kent_simi @adb1146 @SawyerMerritt @Tesla I'll try to explain to you. The choice between a real product now they themselves acknowledged vs a dream and choosing the dream is a dumb thought process.

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe in new interview: "Later this year, we'll have full supervised point-to-point, which will be very similar to @Tesla's FSD. That will roll out to all of our Gen 2 vehicles and, of course, R2. Next year, we'll allow it to go unsupervised, so you can take your eyes off the road. The next step is achieving full capability for the vehicle to drive itself with no one in the car. We've been developing that for a while for our personal vehicles, but we also see it unlocking new business models, robotaxi being one of them. We took the decision to parter with Uber so we could focus on the tech and leverage them for their access to a big distribution channel. They're really a category of one. There's no one quite at their scale or reach." Full interview: youtube.com/watch?v=wP61dC…

@elonmusk and @Tesla My New 2026 Model Y FSD trial just expired and finding no Autopilot. Dirty move not telling us. Money grab to force to get FSD. Love my 2024 Model Y with Autopilt. Should of waited for my reservation for the Rivian R2.

@jhong An OS is nearly impossible to developed and that's why there are only iOS and Android, and even both of them ultimately come from Linux. Self-driving tech is quite easy and cheap if your hw is vertically integrated which TSLA and RIVN are. If not then u have to pay for NVDA.

@kent_simi Sorry but isn't what you are saying confirming exactly what I said? Mercedes is no longer work on their own system and are now licensing Nvidia's platform.

This reminds me of the days when every mobile company out there thought they were going to create their own iPhone competitor, but ultimately they all ended up just having to license Android.

@DevinOlsenn @hyghner Well, how did Tesla develop FSD 14? They threw away everything they did up to FSD 11, wrote a whole new software, and called it FSD 12. 12 was then rewrote so much that 13 required HW4. And a large part of 13 was rewritten to make 14 usable.

I am not a idiot, I have watched videos of what they have in China and I have talked about Nvidia's offerings too. I know that the gap is closing - but I am just going off what I have seen available here in North America. There isn't a single vehicle today in North America with an ADAS that comes anywhere CLOSE to FSD. I would be very surprised if tomorrow v1 of Rivians point to point comes out and is as good as or better than FSD.

I’m a fan of Rivian. In a world without Tesla I think they’d be the gold standard for EVs in a lot of ways. They make good vehicles and their tech is advancing quickly. With that said - I do not understand how RJ can say they’ll have something that competes with FSD within the next six months… I’ve used their UHF and it was bad - very bad. I’m a cautious optimist, so I want to believe RJ and I do genuinely hope that they succeed… but I wouldn’t bet a single dollar that they’ll have a product anywhere close to what FSD is today before the end of the year. I’d love to be proven wrong though - I guess time will tell! @RJScaringe I’ll fly wherever to come demo your point-to-point when it’s ready to test later this year. I promise to give an honest review of the software. @Rivian ❤️ What do you all think? Any chance rivian pulls this off?

@blockchainfatty @surfranchvibes I never said that. Tesla has qualified engineers. The people commenting on Twitter saying Rivian won’t do it like this dude have no engineering background and are speaking from their emotions. Big difference.

@drivingoutlaw @jhong Exactly. If tesla idiots ever crawled out of the rock they're living under, they would know Mercedes has implemented point-to-point self driving using Nvidia. Tesla FSD is not the secret recipe they believe it to be. Heck, Coke's recipe is harder to copy than Tesla's. LOL.

@jing0_ @ChapoGrimey Literally does. He said Chinese cars have fsd. You said you don't trust it. I said your opinion doesn't matter, only chinese drivers' opinions do, and that Chinese car companies trust it enough to accept liabilities in accidents. Yeah, my effort is cool.

so many gay $TSLA elon dick riders are upset about $RIVN finally being a turnaround company. you forget the second richest man owns 17% of the company. competition is good and tesla fan's hate seeing a EV company finally grow in the US come to light and scale fast. womp womp womp.

@jing0_ @ChapoGrimey You don't matter. Chinese people who drive them matter. And Chinese car companies are confident enough that they accept liabilities when their cars get into accidents while self-driving.

This weekend I learned that a few Tesla fanboys living in their basements think that they know more about self driving than RJ. RJ has a PhD from MIT. Rivian VP of Autonomy has a PhD from Oxford. And what do some of you guys have? 🤣 $RIVN $TSLA

@kent_simi @greggertruck @Tfd1331 @SawyerMerritt @Tesla LOL, no they do not. It's not even close. I just test drove an S-class with drive pilot. It's no better than Huyndai's Drive Assist which is not as good as Tesla's old Autopilot. The only thing I like about DA2 is you can still steer without disengaging.

@gig_simple @SawyerMerritt @Tesla Perfectly right. It's not race. If users feel that Mercedes' self driving is acceptable to get them from point A to point B, then they'll just buy it. Doesn't have to be exactly like FSD.

@kent_simi @adb1146 @SawyerMerritt @Tesla There is because they acknowledge that FSD is the technology to beat and expressed willingness to buy new anyway but they're not doing that for FSD and would risk being scammed on a product unproven and will only be based on few word of mouth about quality.

@danieldefnotbot @adb1146 @SawyerMerritt @Tesla The guy clearly stated that if Rivian's tech is proven comparable to FSD then he will buy one. He didn't say he would buy a Rivian based on what the CEO said today. There's nothing dumb about that. It's dumb of you to call it a dumb thought process. There. I'm your mirror.

I really don't understand a lot of people on X who never want to hear anything they don't agree with. Why are they not open to learning about other perspectives and new things that could potentially be right, too? What's the point of reading any analysis at all, then? Just cherry-picking what one wants to hear won't ever have the effect of expanding one's horizon, which essentially is the only way to learn something.

@RivianTrackr @hyghner Everybody except Tesla stans seems to know that Tesla's current FSD was developed in around 2 years. Those idiots keep on yapping about how Tesla spent a decade developing FSD and therefore everyone is years behind them.

Lots of people say Rivian's autonomy timeline is impossible. RJ just put real dates on it at the Masters of Scale podcast, Point-to-Point this year and eyes off next year. I am still bullish, I've included my take in the article. riviantrackr.com/news/rivian-po…

That’s actually the point. We’re not saying Rivian is better. We’re saying we’re going to wait, see what they release, test it, and judge the product on its merits. Last time we jumped in early, funded the development, endured years of beta testing, and were eventually told the hardware we’d purchased wasn’t sufficient. This time we’ll let the technology prove itself before opening our wallets. Apparently that’s now considered a controversial position.
