Recently had a chat with @simonkim_nft - one of the most connected people in Asia. If you’re trying to raise from institutional eastern capital, you want to ensure a couple things: > Real world adoption is a must. How are you onboarding the masses? How do you migrate *already-existing* retail user-journeys and monetise them? Biasedly, capital providers are extremely excited when they hear about @triplescosmos: users mint 300k NFTs per month for collectibles that grant them voting power over their favourite Kpop idols. The average fan is already doing that for souvenirs at convenient stores, why not bring them on-chain (without them knowing) and build a marketplace for tokenizing fan participation? > Usage of AI is really hot: not just marketplaces, agent-enabled infra but why and how is AI being integrated? What is it that [OpenAI and centralized players] can’t do that our crypto open source competitors enable? Don’t force a token in your AI product because these LT capital deployers care little about quick liquidity events. > RWA element is good-to-have. It’s less so about tokenising real estate or art (which many players have tried but failed to scale) but more about taking an asset that has worked immensely well in the real world, and bringing it seamlessly onchain. E.g. Stablecoins are arguably the only product that has done this well, and at scale. Tokenising fiat and making it the most commonly used product onchain (11 figs+). > Sustainability is another positive sign. Just like how ESG was a hot element among web2 startups 10 years ago (premium valuations) and is an essential now (higher rating among equity hedge funds / Bloomberg). How is your protocol incentivizing positive externalities or preventing negative externalities? And this could mean in all ways including minimising -MEV actions! There’s a ton of institutional capital ready to deploy in Korea, Japan, HK and even MENA. Convince them that your fund or protocol can identify / solve these elements and you’re one step ahead.

Together, we hit $350M ATH TVL, onboarded 150K users, and got $PTC listed on @Bybit_Official and @gate_io. I’m grateful to everyone I met during this journey. Special thanks to @wukong_particle, @kid_particle, and @0xPlutoo. Meeting Echo’s founder Jon in KBW was a great opportunity for me. Everyone I met in SG couldn’t stop praising him. His support, both resource-wise and personally, has been incredible. I’m excited to start the experiments in crypto I’ve always wanted to pursue. So what’s Echo Protocol?
