Renewed my license at the @CA_DMV this afternoon in San Francisco. In and out in under 15 minutes. Everyone was helpful, friendly and efficient. People only seem to take to Twitter when they’re complaining so I wanted to buck that trend today. Cheers!

From #JPMCInstitute, earnings in the transportation sector have fallen by 1/2 over past 5 years, from an avg of $1,469 during active months of work in 2013 to $783 in 2017. Not necessarily lower wages (could be fewer hours worked) but worthy of concern/further exploration.

In the 10 yrs that CA has offered independent contractors to access #paidfamilyleave, only 413 people have accessed this benefit (!) As we build toward national paid leave, let's make sure state programs work for all workers. New report from @PaidLeaveUS paidleave.us/left-behind

As many of us grapple with future-focused recommendations on labor policy, we should spend more time thinking about protections for workers in the path of climate catastrophes.

U.S. unemployment is down and jobs are going unfilled. But America’s tremendous economic growth has not led to broad social uplift. Instead, workers are being shut out of the profits they are helping to generate. nyti.ms/2N6iH6I
