The ₹993 commercial LPG hike isn't just a "commercial" issue, it's a direct attack on the poorest Indians' food budget. Commercial LPG powers the entire informal food economy: street vendors, dhabas, hostel messes, small bakeries, and catering services. When a 19kg cylinder jumps to ₹3,071.50 overnight, every vendor's (India has an estimated 1-1.2 crore street vendors) daily fuel cost rises by roughly ₹50. With margins already razor-thin, that cost gets passed straight to the plate, a ₹5-10 increase on a ₹30 meal. For the daily wage worker earning ₹400-500 who eats out 2-3 times a day because he has no kitchen, that's real inflation of 15-20%, not the 5% the government reports. The people hit hardest are the ones who never show up in the government's data. Construction labourers, migrant workers, auto drivers, students in PG messes, and the street vendors themselves, earning ₹200-400/day, now losing 12-25% of their income to fuel costs alone. The CPI doesn't track dhaba and street food prices properly, so a 17% jump in a working-class thali barely registers in official statistics. The government hides behind "domestic LPG is unchanged" protecting the voting household while quietly crushing the invisible poor who depend on the commercial LPG food chain. The timing tells the real story. Prices frozen before Bengal's polling, hiked two days after the last phase. Commercial LPG has gone from ₹1,200 in 2020 to ₹3,071.50 today a 2.5x increase in six years, while daily wages haven't remotely kept pace. Government is call it "commercial" so citizens think it doesn't affect them. But It affects the poorest Indian more than any other fuel.

Dear Indians, I don’t mind the filth in my DMs, personal attacks on my looks, calling me stupid or a Chinese sponge bag, but listen and read the gist of the point, and try to draw a rational argument. That’s how intellectuals share ideas, or at least that’s how the Chinese do.

@ajay43 Idiotic. Prices are always consumer driven. If the price is hiked and people continue to pay, the price is still right. If consumers stop buying, the price will go down. None of the lens from your opticals will fix you

The point about commercial gas prices hitting the roof- food prices in restaurants will jump up and will never ever come down, even if gas prices are reduced.

More than asking DINK couples to consider having children, shouldn’t we be discussing whether bringing children into this world is even sane? Are we promising the children we bring into this earth a better world? Better air? Better water? These are basic rights. But how cruel is it to bring children into the world without addressing the very disastrous, unlivable conditions?

In India, why aren’t people even aware that an unsolicited commercial call is considered spam? It is not just calling multiple times or saying something specific that makes it spam. In other countries, there are strong Acts against this. It makes me doubt the company and its ethics as a potential customer and I’d rather stay away from it. It might be working out for previous generations hence people are continuing it maybe. But if the current generation is the target audience for any company, it’s crucial to get your audience if you wish to grow. @Makemystay16268 really need to explain your team what counts as spam.

@abhi_nihit @mainbhiengineer Abey yaaar, get your resume done like your dad asked you to. He clearly told you not to do MBA but you wasted money. Getting certs from some companies isn't something to be talked about or added to resume though. At least see how your sister is focused on career

"In India tax is like US and benefits are like Bangladesh". Wait, is there even a single benefit given to those who pay income tax in India? I don't think there is any benefit even if you pay 39% income tax on your income. Atleast in Bangladesh high and regular taxpayers get Tax card & honors by revenue department which grants special honors in Govt and private org. They give best taxpayer awards to recognise top taxpayers which help them in gaining social dignity. They're also proposing discounts to high taxpayers in train, plane ticket, utility connections and license First Bangladesh is beating us in per capita income and then in benefits to taxpayers. In India we don't even get "Thank you" in parliament budget speech every year. The correct statement should be - "In India income tax is like US and benefits are NONE". PS: Just think one more thing, we are not comparing with US or European countries, we are comparing ourselves with Bangladesh and there also we losing, that bad the situation for income tax payers in this country.

DINK or not is a personal choice. A choice that doesn’t match your ideology isn’t wrong, it’s just different. Shaming people for not having kids is not right. Respect other’s choices.

If I want to retire in India and want this, where should I end up? 1. Coastal city because pollution will be low 2. No danger of language warriors - I don’t intend to get into anyone’s way 3. Decent infra 4. At least 2 good hospital within 20-30kms 5. Airport within 2-3hr drive; railways station a major plus I can think of these: 1. Vizag 2. North Goa (Ponda, Mapusa) 3. Bhubaneswar (not coastal but you get the drift) 4. Udupi 5. Mangalore What else?

@bharatvarsha03 Don't buy it from restaurants then. They have a lot of profit margin. If they transfer this cost to customers, customers should stop it. They will have to eat some from their margin

Indeed, it's a masterstroke by the government. No change in domestic cylinder prices. They're keeping domestic cylinders untouched to avoid direct backlash from households, but hiking commercial ones sharply. This will inevitably push up prices for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, bakeries, and caterers basically everything we eat outside. That cost will quietly pass on to us through higher menu prices and inflation. Smart way to pick our pockets indirectly and invisibly. Classic move.

What happens when people don't have kids?? Society falls and fails. The couples who think they can manage on their own without depending on kids, have they ever thought the young home helper who comes to do jadu-pota-bartan is someone's daughter. The young vegetable seller guy is someone's son. The young security gaurd of their housing colony is someone's son. The young guy who picks the trash is someone's son. The delivery guy is someone's son. The young electrician, plumber is someone's son. The young nurse who is going to look after you, bathe you, clean you is someone's daughter. The doctor who is going to treat you is someone's daughter or son. The young banker is someone's child. The list goes on. See developed countries where fertility is failing and older population is more than younger population. Japan for instance, Europe for instance. When a population of a country declines, to run the economy, the country's borders are opened. And then all hell breaks loose. This is what is happening in Europe now.
