Tonight, the Pakistani military conducted a number of cross-border strikes in Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces against dozens of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP) terrorists who were preparing to cross from Afghanistan into Pakistan to carry out attacks. Fifteen TTP and ISKP fighters were killed, and more than 20 were wounded. Unfortunately, some local residents had been forced to support the beddown and feeding of fighters while passing through this evening to the border. Tragically, eight civilians were also killed during the operation, six of which were children. Let's be clear about who is responsible for this tragedy. TTP and ISKP chose to operate in these communities, force locals to support their operational movements, and use civilian areas as part of their Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures. The blood of every innocent person killed rests first and foremost on the terrorists including the Afghan Taliban who sustains this terrorist safehaven. That is the reality of terrorism, no matter how many try to ignore it.
