At the International Ministerial Session of the #BharatElectricitySummit, emphasised upon the importance of deepening energy collaboration with partner nations to scale investments, accelerate technology deployment, and build resilient, future-ready power systems across regions. India remains committed to working closely with global partners to drive a coordinated, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition that delivers reliable and affordable electricity for all.

At the #BharatElectricitySummit, participated in an engaging Ministerial Panel at the Strategic Conference on “Meeting the Electricity Needs of the Global South,” alongside Energy Ministers from Tajikistan, Bhutan, the Maldives, and Russia, and my Cabinet colleague, Shri @JoshiPralhad Ji. Deliberations focused on the immense renewable energy potential across the Global South, spanning solar, wind, and hydropower. These regions hold a strong comparative advantage in deploying clean technologies and can drive a sustainable and inclusive energy transition. India remains firmly committed to supporting the energy aspirations of the Global South by strengthening cooperation, enabling capacity building, and facilitating access to reliable, affordable, and clean electricity. Guided by the vision of the Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, we will continue working towards ensuring that the Global South secures its rightful place in the global energy landscape and fully realizes its growth potential. @BharatESummit

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi, has approved the Small Hydro Power (SHP) Development Scheme for FY 2026–27 to FY 2030–31, with an outlay of ₹2584.60 crore to add around 1500 MW capacity. The scheme prioritises hilly and North Eastern states, offering higher central assistance to boost small hydro projects, attract investment, and harness untapped potential in remote and border regions. The initiative will boost clean energy, generate employment in remote and hilly regions, and promote decentralized power. With a strong focus on indigenous manufacturing, it advances Atmanirbhar Bharat while ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth across rural India.
