Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, and Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, inaugurated the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, and delivered the keynote address as the Chief Guest. The conference is being organised by the @MinOfPower, Government of India. The Summit has brought together over 25,000 visitors, 500 exhibiting companies, 147 speakers in the Strategic Conference, more than 300 conference speakers, and around 70 international speakers, making it one of the largest global gatherings in the power sector. The transformative journey of the Indian power sector over the last decade has been phenomenal under the visionary leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi, with unprecedented growth in generation capacity, rapid expansion of transmission network, strong reforms in distribution, and a major push towards clean and sustainable energy. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi, has approved the Small Hydro Power (SHP) Development Scheme for FY 2026–27 to FY 2030–31, with an outlay of ₹2584.60 crore to add around 1500 MW capacity. The scheme prioritises hilly and North Eastern states, offering higher central assistance to boost small hydro projects, attract investment, and harness untapped potential in remote and border regions. The initiative will boost clean energy, generate employment in remote and hilly regions, and promote decentralized power. With a strong focus on indigenous manufacturing, it advances Atmanirbhar Bharat while ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth across rural India.
