First day at Apple! I’m joining the Swift Playgrounds Content team. Obviously I can’t visit the office yet so here’s a photo of me back in 2011 when I was at WWDC. I wasn’t a full time iOS developer yet at that point, but knew I wanted to be! Didn’t dream I’d end up at Apple.

@JohnMcS92873401 @JohnfaeScotland There are quite a few of this style of bollard around the city already. I don't think there's been an epidemic of injuries but maybe you could send a Freedom of Information request to ask? Here's a busy pedestrian junction by the Commie with two.

@JohnfaeScotland At a junction, as a pedestrian, you are watching the traffic. Bump into regular metre high bollard, you bounce off annoyed. They look lethal, cut you off at the knee.

I see Edinburgh Council has added some of these daft metal bollards in Corstorphine. An elderly man almost tripped over one, he didn't see it until the last minute.

@edinhelp these bins are still on the pavement & not road. They were recorded under ref 1861636. They must be moved ASAP. @CllrBenParker @cllr_jenkinson as local and TEC Cllr why hasn’t this happened? If council is for #VisionZero then please sort visibility at junctions!
John Robson@johnrobson87

@edinhelp please can these bins at the east end of Morningside Drive please be positioned (correctly) on the road rather than blocking sight lines of the crossing near the school please. This is urgent and was flagged at MCC due to recent incident. @CllrBenParker @cllr_jenkinson

@SheenaNimmo @CllrBenParker @DrScottArthurMP I was amused by that answer about meeting now we are back from summer holidays. We have been asking for a meeting since March, so plenty of time before we broke up for the holidays at the end of June.

Almost 6 months since the TEC voted to rip out the Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route and local schools have still not been asked how this will impact the pupils who use this route every day. Thank you @CllrBenParker for asking @DrScottArthurMP before he departs!

@johnrobson87 Move it back to have the back against the filter and it might be the start of creating a nice little parklet! ;)

@edinhelp hi. Whoever installed the temporary traffic lights at Strathearn Road/Whitehouse Loan have neglected to put a light in for cyclists travelling south to north through the filters. This is dangerous as it's not clear when they can cross.

@owenoo @SheenaNimmo They're crossing the "Give Way" line before it's safe to exit the junction, which means they end up sitting on the pavement. I know it's because of the poor design and more traffic than the design was intended to cope with, but they should still be observing the give way markings

@SheenaNimmo Unless there is some signage not visible in the video, the drivers aren't doing anything wrong. Not common in the UK, but is a Dutch style side road junction with pavement continuous, to indicate that ped walking along the road have priority over vehicles emerging from side road.

A lot of money was spent trying to make this junction safer for walkers, wheelers and cyclists, but drivers rarely notice they are driving over a pavement at Braidburn Terrace. It’s likely to get worse when the Quiet Route is ripped out and traffic volumes increase by 67%

@WattDanny @CllrScottArthur Why don't we start asking when a hospital will be repaid? After all Western General has never turned a profit.

This must be one of the worst bits of cycle infrastructure in Edinburgh. Mandatory bike lane on Chesser Ave. It’s pointless, the cars always just drive over it. I tried driving round it once, but cars come up your inside & you get blocked in the wrong lane 🙄. @SpokesLothian

@tomasmcguinness Difficult to say exactly as I'm not sure what U-Value of old ones were, especially as they were leaking around the frames - I'd guess about 5-6W/m2K. New ones are 1.4 so should be a substantial difference!

Having this entire window replaced today, which I'm pretty excited about. It's our only single glazed window, absolutely freezing in winter, and none of the windows open any more. Big job though as it's structural.

@SheenaNimmo @edinjoiner @petefyvie The signs are up now but they're not hugely visible and pretty useless anyway, by the time HGVs have seen them it's too late to turn off anywhere else.

@edinjoiner @petefyvie I believe the council is planning on putting up signs to say that the junction is unsuitable for HGVs.

Vans on the pavement blocking the new crossing at the Hermitage in the Braid Estate. Driver asked to move them to one of the nearby parking spaces - spaces which the council are about to remove in order to spend £400k installing cycle lanes to replace the nearby Quiet Route.

Just as we predicted, all pay/display spaces taken, all permit spaces empty (flats all have private parking, so permit spaces are pointless). Nowhere for our phone engineer to park this afternoon. More visitor spaces needed please @Edinburgh_CC @edinhelp @CllrScottArthur

@VerdiMurray @thecockburn The point is that they don't want the £400,000 segregated route. They want the existing (much cheaper) setup to be formalised and strengthened.

@thecockburn They are getting £400000 for a segregated route whilst bus provision diminishes across the city and people sleep rough. What more do they want,?
