@JohnMcS92873401 @JohnfaeScotland There are quite a few of this style of bollard around the city already. I don't think there's been an epidemic of injuries but maybe you could send a Freedom of Information request to ask?
Here's a busy pedestrian junction by the Commie with two.

English

@JohnfaeScotland At a junction, as a pedestrian, you are watching the traffic. Bump into regular metre high bollard, you bounce off annoyed. They look lethal, cut you off at the knee.
English

@johnrobson87 @edinhelp @CllrBenParker @cllr_jenkinson The school had a site visit there recently with Road Safety Officers where we flagged this for the umpteenth time. No idea why nothing is done about it.
English

@edinhelp these bins are still on the pavement & not road. They were recorded under ref 1861636. They must be moved ASAP.
@CllrBenParker @cllr_jenkinson as local and TEC Cllr why hasn’t this happened? If council is for #VisionZero then please sort visibility at junctions!
John Robson@johnrobson87
@edinhelp please can these bins at the east end of Morningside Drive please be positioned (correctly) on the road rather than blocking sight lines of the crossing near the school please. This is urgent and was flagged at MCC due to recent incident. @CllrBenParker @cllr_jenkinson

@SheenaNimmo @CllrBenParker @DrScottArthurMP I was amused by that answer about meeting now we are back from summer holidays. We have been asking for a meeting since March, so plenty of time before we broke up for the holidays at the end of June.
English

Almost 6 months since the TEC voted to rip out the Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route and local schools have still not been asked how this will impact the pupils who use this route every day. Thank you @CllrBenParker for asking @DrScottArthurMP before he departs!

English

@garageross @SheenaNimmo @CllrBenParker @DrScottArthurMP Literally hundreds of kids a day going to SMPS/Canaan Lane/St Peters/Royal Blind School all go along the Quiet Route at some point on foot/scooter/bike.
English

@johnrobson87 Move it back to have the back against the filter and it might be the start of creating a nice little parklet! ;)
English

@edinhelp can this sofa be uplifted from the modal filter on Whitehouse Loan at Strathearn Terrace please.🙏

English

@edinhelp hi. Whoever installed the temporary traffic lights at Strathearn Road/Whitehouse Loan have neglected to put a light in for cyclists travelling south to north through the filters. This is dangerous as it's not clear when they can cross.

English

@owenoo @SheenaNimmo They're crossing the "Give Way" line before it's safe to exit the junction, which means they end up sitting on the pavement. I know it's because of the poor design and more traffic than the design was intended to cope with, but they should still be observing the give way markings
English

@SheenaNimmo Unless there is some signage not visible in the video, the drivers aren't doing anything wrong.
Not common in the UK, but is a Dutch style side road junction with pavement continuous, to indicate that ped walking along the road have priority over vehicles emerging from side road.
English

@mikouseless @SheenaNimmo Someone who uses a wheelchair, mobility scooter, etc. Also sometimes used to refer to kids with scooters.
English

@apple_franca According to the update in democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/documents/s693… they've bottled it over the £400k option and are now looking at using cheaper materials for now. Will have to revisit when it's made permanent, by which time it'll be over £400k!
English

I'd like to once again remind people that the option the council have gone with is going to cost £400k. Vs £0 to leave the planters where they are

@WattDanny @CllrScottArthur Why don't we start asking when a hospital will be repaid? After all Western General has never turned a profit.
English

Around a million passengers a month can't be wrong -
"Since that line has gone live, I think people have slowly fallen in love with the tram a bit. They have given up on some of the negativity that we used to have around the old project and they have seen the part it can play."
edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/edinburgh…
English

@sbarlster @Ken_J_Murray @SpokesLothian Paint has faded away there, it did look like this. Solid white lines means it's mandatory and cars shouldn't enter at all.

English

This must be one of the worst bits of cycle infrastructure in Edinburgh. Mandatory bike lane on Chesser Ave. It’s pointless, the cars always just drive over it. I tried driving round it once, but cars come up your inside & you get blocked in the wrong lane 🙄.
@SpokesLothian

English

@tomasmcguinness Difficult to say exactly as I'm not sure what U-Value of old ones were, especially as they were leaking around the frames - I'd guess about 5-6W/m2K. New ones are 1.4 so should be a substantial difference!
English

@neilinglis Have you worked out the difference in heat loss you can expect?
English

@SheenaNimmo @edinjoiner @petefyvie The signs are up now but they're not hugely visible and pretty useless anyway, by the time HGVs have seen them it's too late to turn off anywhere else.
English

@edinjoiner @petefyvie I believe the council is planning on putting up signs to say that the junction is unsuitable for HGVs.
English

@edinjoiner @Harris_Morrison @SheenaNimmo I'd only heard of it because the Braid Bowling Club is owned by the houses in the "Braid Estate" which was originally the houses in the map here. It's still the case that people buying one of those houses can skip the waiting list to join! braidbc.co.uk/BERG.html

English

@Harris_Morrison @SheenaNimmo Never in all my life have i known that area to be braid estate. That’s still morningside.
Braid estate would be braid hills, bramdean, etc.
English

@JulieDuchess @AmyxJean @Robert_Drysdale @Edinburgh_CC @edinhelp @CllrScottArthur Yup, and I think they work out cheaper than paying for pay and display parking in many zones? edinburgh.gov.uk/visitorpermit
English

@AmyxJean @Robert_Drysdale @Edinburgh_CC @edinhelp @CllrScottArthur You can buy visitors permits in Edinburgh for use in resident parking areas.
English

Just as we predicted, all pay/display spaces taken, all permit spaces empty (flats all have private parking, so permit spaces are pointless). Nowhere for our phone engineer to park this afternoon. More visitor spaces needed please @Edinburgh_CC @edinhelp @CllrScottArthur

Edinburgh, Scotland 🇬🇧 English

@edinjoiner @SW20Ed You filter the side streets like Craiglea Drive and Comiston Drive.
English

@VerdiMurray @thecockburn The point is that they don't want the £400,000 segregated route. They want the existing (much cheaper) setup to be formalised and strengthened.
English

@thecockburn They are getting £400000 for a segregated route whilst bus provision diminishes across the city and people sleep rough. What more do they want,?
