I am surprised that nobody is surprised by these results. It feels quite earth-shattering to me but what do I know? At 6 months, olezarsen reduced triglycerides by 63.9%, remnant cholesterol by 71.9%, and apolipoprotein B by 16.0% over placebo, with no difference in LDL-C. And yet no difference in plaque at all at one year? None? So many questions and so few answers but I think this is one of the most interesting null results I have seen in a long time.

Ah I’m glad you mentioned our ‘daily sugar requirement’ WE NEED about 130 grams of glucose per day for vital functions ALL OF THIS CAN BE MADE BY US FROM FATS OR PROTEIN, ITS CALLED GLUCONEOGENESIS 👍It explains why we don’t die if we fast !

@lowcarbGP @DrBPHealth @CampbellMurdoch @KenDBerryMD @rcgp @lowcarb_aus @thelowcarb_rd @drjasonfung @SBakerMD @bigfatsurprise @OfficialADSOrg @DiabetesUK What about daily sugar consumption level per day on an average in an adult man or woman ? Our daily sugar consumption should actually be proportional to requirement per day and not the average levels available in blood. This information needs to be studied in this correlation. 🙏🏻

Lp(a) has emerged as a relatively potent driver of residual cardiovascular risk! We are told it is genetic and that a healthy diet cannot effect it! The reality is that several studies show that replacing carbs with saturated fat can and does lower it, sometimes fairly significantly! pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC78…

Behold! The @nytimes becomes educated on the science of the ketogenic diet and mental health. This is so encouraging to see! The first article was on Feb 5 (at the bottom). The most recent one, 5 weeks later, was just published (listed on top). In these few weeks, reporters took time to investigate the existing science on diet and serious mental illness. This science is still preliminary--but it is enormously promising. Congrats to the NYTimes for continuing its inquiry on this important subject.

The question here is not whether real food is superior to protein bars. Of course it is, but the reality is people still resort to these bars. I don't eat them myself, but for people who do, Lineage is clearly superior. Ingredients are natural (even if too high in carbs/sugar for people on keto). No artificial, industrial fats. Those in the David bar are chemical novelties--your body has no experience dealing with these. Avoid!

Can the Keto Diet Really Improve Mental Health? Yes! At least for some people. More research, including RCTs, will be published soon. nytimes.com/2026/03/17/wel…

Why do debates on critical questions in nutrition – from the harms of sugar to the cause of obesity – drag on for decades, leaving science at a standstill? I explore this question through the lens of science philosopher Thomas Kuhn. @Cell_Metabolism Free article link below👇

@DrIanWeissman In 40 years of medicine I never met a patient whose T2D was the result of eating red meat But I have met 157 people who have achieved drug free T2 diabetes remission by cutting the foods that put up blood sugar - carbs! We published here nutrition.bmj.com/content/early/…

@DrIanWeissman I expect this ‘evidence’ you mention is merely nutritional epidemiology which should only be used to suggest associations NOT causation

It's not a low carb or low fat diet that are associated with reduced risk of heart disease. It's the quality, from plant-based foods, lack of refined carbs, healthy fats. Common thread of metabolites. From >200,000 people/3 large cohorts @JACCJournals jacc.org/doi/10.1016/j.…

RFK Jr. says most people with Type 2 diabetes don’t need drugs they need a new diet. “Most people with Type 2 diabetes can lose their diagnosis simply by changing their diet.” “It’s much more effective than pharmaceutical drugs or other medical interventions.”

@EricTopol @anahadoconnor I’d like to mention that there’s an exception in people with a high LPA (to whom I belong). They have a benefit in primary prevention from low dose aspirin. It’s because LPA is prothrombotic, it’s gene locus 6q is close to coag factors. Thrombophilia more common in high LPA.

In people age 70+ without prior heart attack, bypass surgery, or stenting, the risk of major bleeding events with low dose aspirin markedly exceeds benefit. There was an increase in major adverse cardiovascular events in follow-up of ASPREE. A full review of the data here erictopol.substack.com/p/the-lowdown-…
