@mehdirhasan what is the deal with LAPAM (Israel Advertizing agency) running ads during Morning Joe for FreedomNotTerror.org with highly stilted content. Why is MSNOW runnng their ads?
English

@bioreconstruct It looks like there are a bunch of A-Frame buildings along the shore. Are they building more cabins like the ones at Wilderness Lodge?
And is that a lazy river going in the courtyard between the hotel and the lake?
English

@DisTouristBlog Any news on the Steel A frames being assembled in front of Lakeshore lodge?

@AriMelber What happens to inauguration ceremony planning if the government shuts down? Are the federal employees involved considered essential workers?
English

@stevebenen how would a government shutdown affect planning for the inauguration? Surely the many hundreds of federal employees involved are not doing essential duties?

@atrupar He could have chosen to live a pleasant, quiet life at one of his clubs, but instead he chose to end his life lying to us, shaking his supporters down for money, and undermining democracy.

#xfinitymobile is driving me nuts. They sim lock phones, which blocks adding an extra esim for travel. If you pay off the phone, you lose the credit from a trade-in, which is $300+ at this point (13mo in).
Customer chat is very unhelpful.

@Aaronontheweb @odin88 The log count is per resource - so many containers multiplies that value.
Tracing limit doesn't account for the number of spans.
English

@odin88 Yeah it's all ARM64 - I did try to set memory limits on everything via docker compose but I don't believe these settings are actually effective unless you're using Docker Swarm. Would be pleasantly surprised if I was wrong:

English

@Aaronontheweb @odin88 Unlike those other tools the dashboard doesn't have any storage scheme so is keeping everything in memory. The defaults are probably too high to go with the memory allocated.

@QuanSai @CollinRugg Because the clubs are oversized luggage and so can’t go through the normal path. The cart at the end of the conveyer is for regular luggage. The extra one is for oversized. When you have a team all with golf bags, the handlers are not going to be resourced to handle them

NEW: Delta Airlines caught chucking a college golf team’s clubs at the San Diego airport before the NCAA Championships.
The airline industry is becoming one of the most hated industries in America.
The East Tennessee State University men’s golf team filmed Delta employees launching their gear on the tarmac.
“Nice of Delta to handle our clubs with such care…” the team said on X.
The team was traveling to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California when the incident happened.

@Morning_Joe how is using AI for this kind of mass targeting without human decision making not a war crime

@turkenlady @choeshow In any system, it will optimize around the metrics. In Plymouth’s case the metric is people housed after 1 year. They don’t care whether the residents are sober/clean/healthy on path of recovery, as long as they remain living there. Housing first!
English

EXCLUSIVE: I spent a year investigating Seattle's "low barrier" homeless housing and uncovered a nightmare of drugs, crime, chaos, and death. But local lawmakers are doubling down, committing millions to failed "housing first" policies that only compound the problems.
Here is the first installment of my series. Watch now.
English

@BetterParties @gabriela_mako @choeshow The current thinking is we can’t force treatment. Neither prison nor mental institutions are the right fit, we need forced detox and resuscitation programs forming a ladder of treatment/support and jail at the bottom.
English

@gabriela_mako @choeshow The addicts refuse housing if addiction treatment is required. I saw something recently that said 60% of homeless are refusing housing when offered because they wouldn't be able to use.
English

@gabriela_mako @choeshow There are multiple issues at play:
a) when someone is having problems there is little support available to stop them from falling into homelessness
b) Active addicts are unable to live “normal” lives, housing without treatment won’t solve it
English

@choeshow Because it’s how you get ahead in local politics. Birney will use this as a stepping stone to her next office, and will be gone before the side effects are felt.

@stayfun_ You realize that is a stage, which is carefully managed right?

@MartinDotNet @RogerAlsing @stack72 OTel parts of the dashboard are literally an OTel endpoint that copies the data from the OTLP protobuf to in-memory store, and then a Blazor server UI over the top.
Histograms are based on the buckets of data.
English

@RogerAlsing @stack72 Not sure about Histogram data, but it doesn't need any external dependencies.
github.com/dotnet/aspire/…
That's literally everything, no external dependencies.
English

So that works... Aspire dashboard running without the full Aspire App framework.
So hopefully a nice replacement for not having to use Jaeger.
Next step...
services.AddAspireDashboard(); So that it configures OpenTelemetry too.
Aspire for any app in development
#dotnetconf

English

@MartinDotNet I'd like to gauge interest in having the OTel parts (semantic logs, metrics, traces) as a pre-built tool? Not much interest from the OTel community, but I think they mainly focus on the APM perspective rather than app devs testing what their code emits.
