@gabor I've been trying to use Gemini in Workspace to create a table from an image, and it hallucinated random data, see image below. (Both Gemini Flash and Pro created the table with zero errors in the chat app, so the capability is clearly there)

@GaryMarcus Hallucinations are not solved...at all. However, they can be reducded, even a prompt can make a huge difference: "You are an expert programmer" -> model confidently hallucinates non existing libraries "You are a novice programmer" -> model does (re)search, uses skills, etc

I have an ML professor asserting that hallucinations have been solved in recent frontier reasoning models. Please supply any data you know that supports or rebuts this claim.

This is either brilliant or scary: Anthropic accidentally leaked the TS source code of Claude Code (which is closed source). Repos sharing the source are taken down with DMCA. BUT this repo rewrote the code using Python, and so it violates no copyright & cannot be taken down!

In an effort to try stop seeing so much slop I've been trying to train my own AI detection model. Found something incredibly interesting. for the most part LLM generated text and human written text are linearly separable.

@chatgpt21 This has been the case since 2.5pro, the chat model is lazy, and tbh, I don't mind. I suspect this is all about serving 600+ millions of daily users with least amount of TPU/GPU. If you want to use it for hard science or programming, you will use the API anyway, not the chat app.
