Actually, I usually agree with the person ‘hitting back’… but it’s the idea that it’s the ‘final say’ or ‘the only five words that have to be said’ or has ‘shut down the debate’ that annoys me. Clearly, as today proves, very few debates have been ‘shut down’.

Fair enough, it’s a comedy-based website, but the ‘all our readers have to agree with our take or we’ll pen scathing editorials/shame them on social media’ approach is too common in proper journalism as well.

Sigh. I’m starting to think this kind of thing is part of the problem, not the solution. The lazy assumption that EVERYBODY agrees about ‘the perfect response/clapback/last word’. It’s perfectly possible to argue that Clement doesn’t understand what ‘elites’ means these days.

@iainlee My money is on RSI from phone/keyboard use. If you’re not careful it can creep into your arm, shoulder and back. I was off work for weeks with it. One very useful piece of advice I got was to exercise your fingers and thumb by stretching an elastic band with your hand.
