seems like the entire VC industry needs to take a harsh look at valuation policy (not just CEOs) VCs, LPs, auditors, board members are *ALL* guilty of a collective “valuation hallucination” (and it still continues to this day, 4 years after Q1/22 SVB collapse) we need more innovation in VC secondary markets — something like the private market equivalent of “shorting” VC-backed companies and funds.

People are turning against a system they never actually experienced. The conditions Thiel describes aren’t the result of capitalism working too well. They’re the result of capitalism being slowly replaced by policy-driven scarcity. Student debt didn’t rise because markets ran wild. It rose because government guaranteed the loans. Housing didn’t become inaccessible because property rights failed. It became inaccessible because zoning boards, permitting regimes, and “planning authorities” restrict supply by design. Wages didn’t stagnate because capital exploited labor. They stagnated because taxes, inflation, and regulation drag wealth creation down while inflating the cost of living. So the resentment is real. The generational break is real. But the target is misplaced. People are losing faith not in capitalism, but in a system that wears capitalism’s language while operating as coordinated political control. Ownership was throttled, not by markets, but by policies that prevent individuals from accumulating and applying capital. If you remove those restraints, opportunity expands. If you double down with more control, you get collapse. The question is not whether people will rewrite the system. The question is whether they’ll recognize which system failed.

Typing is slow. Speech is the closest to how quickly humans think. That's why I am increasingly bullish on Voice as the ultimate UI for humans x AI. Plus, you can speak even when on the go, driving, etc.

it's a very painful journey of realization in terms of where the state of "do it yourself" vibe coding is. but with the right tools, you can get it done. take a look at Task Master (basically project management + guard rails for any IDE/Cursor Code) and ensure unit testing for each feature. the initial experience won't be so magical like it is with Replit/Lovable, but the end result is that you get a commercial grade actual live product that works and can take in new features in the future too

Hopefully these unit tests will save my sanity and make sure the system keeps working. And paying 5x more for Opus 4 will help. I’m back in it, but still worried about Replie overwriting my code again and again But also think I’ll get better and better at it each day.

Ok day 5 of vibe coding with replit and ... it's time to take a break. I'm burnt. I was vibe coding all weekend, all Saturday night even, it's addictive. When it works, it's so engaging and fun. It's more addictive than any video game I've ever played. You can just iterate, iterate, and see your vision come alive. So cool. Well, almost. Then I spend 12+ hours over the weekend just doing QA + fixes, and it looked better at first ... but ... by the end things were working worse. My app is basically just: - algo (with AI) - dashboard - email / workflow By Day 4, I'd finally sort of gotten the algo + dashboard to the state where it seemed to mostly work, and the emails were cool if not totally working right. We had a lot of issues to overcome, but we kept at it. And then yesterday ... Replie started to overwrite the app we'd built to fix the remaining bugs. It started to make up entries and directly overwrite our database. It made up reports. It made up people in the system that weren't real. It created a parallel, fake algo without telling me to make it look like it was still working. And without asking me. Rogue. And now, nothing works. And I've lost confidence, even if I spend 2+ days and nights fixing it by vide coding, it will never be stable. Because Replie will go in and rewrite it again. No one is perfect. And getting to a strong POC at this pace is epic. It was so fun. But can I ever get to a GA commercial grade product here? I want to. I'm willing to put up with some pain. I'm going to take a day or two off and try once more. But right now -- I'm wiped out. I feel like I spend the past 4 days played one of the most intense videogames ever ... almost leveled-up massively ... but in the end, reset to a level lower than when I started.
