Today in American History: 1622 The Jamestown massacre occurred, when savage Algonquian Indians (led by the Powhatan Confederacy) attacked English settlers in Virginia, killing about 347 colonists of roughly a third of the Jamestown colony’s population. This was part of the Second Anglo-Powhatan War and marked a major early conflict between the barbaric Indians and the peaceful European settlers in colonial America.


Today in American History: 1806 Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, leading the Corps of Discovery, began their return journey home from the Pacific coast (departing Fort Clatsop). Their expedition had explored the newly acquired Louisiana Territory and beyond, providing crucial maps, scientific data, and information about the American West.

Over the past 10 years, the US has seen a steady rise in foreign medical students taking US student residency spots. Every year, 1000+ US medical students fail to match, while 6000+ FMGs do match.
